25.01.2022 We recognise NAIDOC Week at Balgowlah North through the first official flag raising of our new Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags. We know, support and understand that the land our school rests on, always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. Last year, our student leaders and Dave Lardner, Aboriginal Learning and Wellbeing Officer for the NSW DoE, created an Acknowledgement of Country for our school. On this NAIDOC Week, we encourage you to read, pause and reflect... on the significance of the words. "We acknowledge and respect the traditional custodians on whose land our school rests. Their footsteps and whispers blow in the wind, drift on the clouds, remain deep in the sandstone and float on the waterways of this place. Their memories and Dreaming stories will continue to connect us to the land and guide future generations of our school community. Country is alive if you take the time to look, listen and learn".

25.01.2022 Today is National Simultaneous Storytime Day and Mrs Norrie and Mrs King visited Yr 1 and Kindergarten to share Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford. Many other classes also shared this fabulous picture book. Thank you to our librarian, Mrs Horsley, for coordinating today, and the props that helped Mrs Norrie and Mrs King channel their inner Divas!

18.01.2022 Today was our last Stories with Mrs Norrie, as we begin our one day per week transition back to school next week. Thank you for tuning in each day. 11.30am has been the absolute highlight of my day! Your interactions, comments and messages have been wonderful. We had people from all over the world tune in, past students, friends and family of our students, and friends and family of my own! In this time of isolation, those connections have been so very, very important. A big, heartfelt thank you to all. Weve shared the full novel of The BFG by Roald Dahl, and over 20 of my favourite picture books together. I hope youve enjoyed it as much as I have, and I look forward to seeing all our students return over the course of next week on their designated day. Belinda
