25.01.2022 I've been busted talking to my horses many a time! What's the thing you most often say to your horse?

25.01.2022 Agistment Available: we currently have private paddocks and places in the group paddock available. private paddocks are a generous size and have been spelling, so plenty of grass right now group paddock also has plenty of green pick and currently only 2x quiet geldings out there close to Ballan township and the Western fwy grassed riding area and round yard... If you'd like to know more, or to arrange a viewing, just send us a message :) See more

24.01.2022 When your sister is a shelter hog and you have to stand out in the rain...

24.01.2022 There's nothing quite like spending a day on horseback out in nature!

24.01.2022 Why a Coach and not an Instructor? "Riding Instructor" is the common term for those who teach riding in Australia, but I prefer to refer to myself as a "Coach" and here's why: An Instructor teaches you how to do something eg. driving instructor, scuba diving instructor, rock climbing instructor. Once you have the skills you need you don't need the instructor anymore. You have attained a minimum standard of competency ie. passed your Driver's License test and now you're on you...r own. Coaching, on the other hand refers to on-going training that refines the athlete's performance in order to achieve better results. Coaching takes into consideration not only the skills you need to be able to do something (like ride your horse well enough not to fall off) but also the key components you need to be able to do it well (develop your sense of feel, the timing of your aids, refine your position to improve balance et al) As a coach I have to be aware of the rider's mental and emotional state, their relationship with the horse, their theoretical understanding of the principles of equestrian riding and their current fitness level. In addition to this, I have to select exercises that are appropriate for the rider, being mindful of their goals and ambitions to ensure I am steering them toward those outcomes, and bring them along in a progressive and systematic way. Furthermore, there is the horse to consider in all of those same ways (except perhaps his theoretical knowledge, as I've never met a horse that could recite the rule book!). Even Olympic athletes have coaches, any by the time they get to that elite level they surely know how to ride/ski/run/swim etc. A coach is a whole lot more than just an instructor, and the more competitive and ambitious you are as a rider the more important it is for you to have the right coach by your side. 22.01.2022 AGISTMENT AVAILABLE. We currently have 2x private paddocks available. Our private paddocks are generous in size with electric fencing and shade trees along the front. These paddocks can accommodate 1-2 horses and prices start from $30/w for DIY agistment. Grassed riding area... 16m round yard Instructor/trainer on site 5mins from Western Fwy & Ballan township We aim to make horse ownership as easy as possible by organising annual dental days and de-worming days as well as having a reliable local hay supplier who delivers round rolls straight to the paddocks. For more information or to arrange a viewing just send us a message :)

22.01.2022 Springtime can be a challenging time for horse owners... our horses have started losing their winter coats which makes them more susceptible to the cold when spring throws a cold snap on us... Yet they also feel the heat during these beautiful sunny days... but most often the nicest sunny day comes after a frost... (clear sky = cold night) which means AM & PM rug changes may be necessary to keep your horse comfortable... Horses find it much easier to keep warm than we do, they don't feel the cold in the same way... and sweating under heavy rugs on a warm day can cause stress and weight loss, so my rule of thumb is always: when in doubt, leave it off.

20.01.2022 Straight load or angle? What does your horse like best?

19.01.2022 Now that they daylight hours are getting longer again I have the capacity to take on just three new riders. If you are an Equestrian rider - or the parent of a keen young rider - and looking for a coach with an eye for detail, in depth understanding of equine bio-mechanics and a systematic way of training that develops both horse and rider as athletes, shoot me a message and we can chat more :)

19.01.2022 Getting your chores done is easier when you've got company

18.01.2022 Crystal is what I refer to as a "Spaghetti Horse" meaning she's very flexible. Consequently, she's not very stable, which means she's a great horse for refining my seat aids as she responds/reacts to the slightest shift in the rider.

17.01.2022 "You are the people you spend time with" If you are a mad-about-horses person, and I'm not just talking about someone who likes to go riding, but someone who LIVES AND BREATHES horses, who would happily spend all day hanging out with horses even if you couldn't ride... ...then you're just the kind of person I'm looking to work with in my brand new project that's about to go live!... It's an application-only program, I'm only taking on the people that I know I can really help along their horsey journey and that are the right fit for what I've got in store, and there are a limited number of places as I want to keep it small to be able to offer the highest level of support. If you are a deeply passionate horse person, with a strong desire to learn all you can, and you aren't afraid of a bit of dirt, sweat or hard work send me a DM that answers these 3 questions: 1. What is your one big goal or dream that you'd like to achieve with your horse or in the horse industry? 2. What is the biggest thing that's holding you back 3. What can you offer/bring to a small group of others in a similar position as you, all striving to make their horse dreams come true? Jessica

14.01.2022 Have you ever watched horses running in a herd? Have you seen how they all turn at exactly the same time? It's like some kind of unicorn magic that they can read each other's minds! It's not actually mind-reading, really; it's body-reading! Horses are so tuned in to body language that the see the tiniest little things! What is your body language telling your horse that you might not even be aware of?
