Some of the BAA Committee had a meeting with Malcolm Sanders from Regional Arts Victoria, just to clarify some information about the ‘Sustaining Creative Workers Initiative’ grant project, as we... had had enquiries in regards to this. When it comes to Regional Arts Victoria, it’s always best to contact Malcolm in the first instance he’s extremely helpful and friendly, he can talk you through stuff and he usually has all the answers to your questions. Here’s the front web page for the project again: http://www.rav.net.au/funding/sustaining-creative-workers/ Below is a summary of the info from the meeting for your information: COVID-19 Sustaining Creative Workers Initiative GUIDELINES http://www.rav.net.au//regionalartsvictoria-sustaining-cre A quick-response grant round, managed by Regional Arts Victoria (RAV) for all creative disciplines. 20.01.2022 2 days to go - its a fairly basic application, the main part is the interview which is informal, they just want to know who you are and whether you project meets the guidelines really. BAF has raised $25,000 this year to give out to emerging artists of any age who have either lived, studied or work in Ballarat, so if you have a project which could use a small grant - what have you got to lose.

11.01.2022 This is the letter sent to all the councillors the other day: Ballarat Arts Alive, speaking on behalf of its membership and the broader arts community, wants to make sure that arts and culture remains a key focus of Council’s activities into the future. Ballarat is a centre for creativity. As we come out of lockdown artists will emerge again to play a crucial role, not just providing entertainment but helping us make sense of what Covid-19 has done to our lives." We are di...sappointed that the Ombudsman’s report into poor practices at the City of Ballarat has drawn criticism that targets the whole organisation. We call on Councillors to reaffirm their commitment to the Creative City Strategy and ensure that investment in arts and culture continues to grow so the sector can contribute to our full economic and social recovery. BAA has written to the Mayor, senior officers and Councillors seeking assurances that the arts community has their continuing support. HEATHER HORROCKS President BAA 19 May 2020

07.01.2022 Just to let all our members know that today David Twomey has resigned as President and committee member of Ballarat Arts Alive. I wish the committee well and will certainly be remaining as a member and supporter of BAA. Cheers David
