22.01.2022 Fire season is fast approaching don’t leave it to late to prepare.

20.01.2022 During the day and into tonight crews continued to monitor the grass and scrub fires that occurred yesterday near Tinworth Avenue Mount Clear. Crews found some small hot spots and extinguished these throughout the day into the evening. Members used the brigades Thermal Imaging Camera (TIC) to locate any further hot spots that were unable to be seen.... When crews left tonight we were unable to locate any further hot spots. The owners of the land will continue to monitor the area and will notify the brigade if any further hot spots are found.

09.01.2022 Tomorrow we will see the first high fire danger for the area for this fire season. Parts of the state (Mallee and Wimmera) will see very high and severe fire ratings with the remainder of the State with high ratings. It’s now time to prepare for the fire season. If you have burnt off or currently burning off please make sure they are completely extinguished before tomorrow’s warmer temperatures and windy conditions.

06.01.2022 Tonight for our junior program we ran a quiz night. Our junior brigade were asked questions about the brigade history, the appliances, radio communications, the management structure and general questions relating to the brigade. The night was done via a video call and was fully enjoyed by all. Unfortunately due to COVID our junior program still can’t meet in person.

06.01.2022 This afternoon we were responded to an unattended smouldering camp fire in bushland at Brown Hill. It was upsetting to find that a fire was left and not completely extinguished before those responsible had left. Please remember to extinguish fires completely prior to leaving the site.... Some helpful tips are 1. Use a purpose-built fireplace where provided, otherwise light your campfire in a trench at least 30cm deep. Ensure the trench is no larger than one square metre in size and the area around the trench is cleared of flammable material up to three metres in all directions, including above the campfire. 2. Branches and logs on your campfire must be less than one metre long keep your fire just big enough for warmth and cooking. 3. Never leave a campfire alight or unattended. You must maintain a 50-metre line of sight of the campfire at all times. 4. An adult must be present at all times when the campfire is alight. 5. Ensure your campfire is completely extinguished using water, not soil. The fire burnt an area around two metres by two metres. We thank the young boy who pointed it out to his mum while walking in the area. Well done and thank you for reporting it. With the winds predicted over night this fire may have spread into further bushland.
