23.01.2022 NEW APPOINTMENT | Australian Futsal Association is delighted to announce the appointment of COREY SMITH as National Technical Director. Corey joined the orga...nisation in 2005, when he started as a trainee development officer in Hobart, Tasmania. In 2012 he was transferred to Victoria where he took on role of Ballarat Administrator, before finally in 2016 taking on role of Victorian Technical Director. As a futsal player he represented the AFA National Team on the 2011 tour of France and captained the Tasmanian Men's State Team. Simultaneously, as a footballer he played for a number of first division and state league clubs in Tasmania, winning several premierships and being selected as league Rising Star in the year 2000. He also played in the English Futsal National League for Middlesbrough in 2012. In recent years Corey’s focus has been coaching and player development. He has taken a number of AFA National Teams overseas, including leading the U17 Boys to victory in the IFA World Cup in 2017. In 2020 he was appointed as assistant coach of the AFA National Men's team. As a football coach he is presently head coach of SEBASTOPOL VIKINGS but in the past has coached Caroline Springs, George Cross and numerous NPL junior squads. As an administrator he was a Match Commissioner at the 2012 EUSA games for futsal and has completed both a Diploma in Business and Marketing and internships with both FC KOLN and BORUSSIA MOENCHENGLADBACH. Corey is relishing the role of driving coach education across Australia and even in lockdown is carrying out regular zoom coaching seminars and scouring the country for up and coming futsal coaches. Corey said: "I believe coach education and development is an area we can improve on, across the sport of futsal in Australia and am honoured to get the opportunity to help it progress at a national level. We need to identify new coaches, upskill the ones we have, and offer more opportunities for these coaches to stay in the game. AFA Chief Executive Officer Alistair Miller added: Corey has been a tremendous servant to AFA for fifteen years. He is an excellent coach and equally strong at developing programmes. He has raised standards in his local club of Ballarat and across Victoria, with an excellent track record of progressing both players and coaches. 18.01.2022 NATIONALS ARE GO | A decision has been made today that the Nationals will go ahead in January, no matter what. If Sydney is still quarantined from other sta...tes by that stage, the tournament will be moved to either Newcastle or Canberra on the same dates where all can enter. Where it is will finally be will be decided on 2nd December when Queensland will announce their next border movements. NOTE: Victoria's border to NSW opens 23rd November so Victoria will be there! NATIONAL ARE GO!!

16.01.2022 Vacancy || We are looking for a part time competitions manager, initially 10 hours a week and expanding to more as the covid restrictions ease. Duties will include organising competitions including draws and tables and managing competitons on the day/night. ... Hours are after 4.00pm weekdays and some weekends.
