23.01.2022 Invites have been sent out to paid member for the AGM in November. This will be an online meeting and we need at least 20 members for a quorum. We will need a RSVP to ensure we have numbers. If you are not sure how to attend an online meeting, instructions will be sent to you. It is not difficult just the click of a couple of links. Who'd of thought we would still be in lockdown of sorts, at this stage. We look forward to seeing everyone (on screen) there. Check your spam box if you did not get an invite.

12.01.2022 GLOBAL SHOUT OUT - ft. ANCESTRY UNITED KINGDOM. Once a month, we'll be highlighting our favourite content from Ancestry hubs around the world, so you can extend... your family history research across the seas. This week, let's travel to the UK, where our very own Ancestry ProGenealogist Simon Pearce takes us through navigating handwritten records. Journals, diaries and letters offer a unique insight into the experiences and the lives of their authors. Have you discovered any handwritten documents in your own family history research? Let us know in the comments below! See more

07.01.2022 After a period of closure due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Eureka Centre Ballarat will reopen to the public on Thursday 26 November with restricted numbers and... pre-booked timed visits. To book your visit, please visit our webpage: http://www.eurekacentreballarat.com.au The museum at the Eureka Centre will be open from Thursday to Monday each week with one-hour sessions beginning at 10am, 11.30am, 1.45pm and 3.15pm. During these one-hour visits, people will be able to view the interpretative exhibition about the Eureka Stockade and the famous Eureka Flag. Entry will be free during this period of restricted entry. The Ballarat Research Hub at Eureka (BRHAE) will reopen with two-hour pre-booked timed visits at 10am and 1pm on Tuesday 24 November. BRHAE will open from Monday to Thursday. Access to BRHAE will be limited with three people in the main research library and two people in the Ballarat Archives Centre’s Joan Hunt Reading Room. BRHAE provides the combined resources and services of the City of Ballarat Australiana Research Collection, Public Record Office Victoria’s Ballarat Archives Centre and the Ballarat & District Genealogical Society Inc. Conditions of entry will apply and access to technology and materials will be facilitated in line with restrictions. Ballarat and District Genealogical Society members will also have one hour of exclusive access to BRHAE each afternoon, with access arranged directly between the Australiana Research Librarian and the society’s volunteer organisers. Access will be limited to three members per session. City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Daniel Moloney says it will be fantastic to once again welcome visitors to the Eureka Centre. We are passionate about the history of the Eureka Stockade and we’re happy we can share our exhibitions, historic site, research services and, of course, the majestic Eureka Flag with people once again. To keep everyone safe, the Eureka Centre will be doing things a little differently. People will need to pre-book through our new website: www.eurekacentreballarat.com.au to select an allocated time to visit either the Eureka Centre museum or the Ballarat Research Hub at Eureka. We will have some restrictions in place and as a result we will offer free entry for the time being. This is our first step to reconnecting with the community and we hope we can offer our full Eureka Centre experience in the very near future, Cr Moloney says. Visitors will also be the first to receive a copy of the new Visitor Guide designed by Ballarat artist, Ben Sanders. This will introduce the history of the Eureka Stockade and guide visitors through the features of the historic Eureka Stockade Memorial Park. https://www.eurekacentreballarat.com.au//Eureka-Centre-Bal #eurekacentreballarat #eurekastockade #inthistogether #bekindballarat #openforbusiness #covidsafe #Iloveballarat #BRHAE Ballarat Council Ballarat East Network Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Eureka Stockade Holiday Park Eureka Aquatic Centre Photo: Paul Lambeth Photography
