23.01.2022 Ballarat Memorial Sports Bowling Club punches ticket to Grand Final

23.01.2022 ***Match Report*** This is becoming an alarming trend... In what was another freezing day of bowls we were able to score some fantastic results. Premier division were away to Learmonth and secured a 9 shot win. Wal Whitehead's rink were down by 8, Mick Sloper's rink were down by 1 but the heroes of the day were Ryan Bedggood's rink who got the side home winning by 18 shots. This makes it 2 wins in a row now, it was a slow start but things look to be clicking now. Great work a...Continue reading

16.01.2022 ***Match Report*** Apologies that our report is late tonight we have had technical issues (don't get me started). We got round 2 underway plus a very important interclub match that we will hear more about soon. Premier have had another agonising loss going down by 4 shots away to Sebastopol. We did get 4 points with Wal Whitehead's rink up by 8 and Jnr Bedggood's side up by 4. Mick Sloper's rink had a 16 shot loss. It has not been a great first 2 rounds for the top side but t...Continue reading

16.01.2022 ***Match Report*** What a great day for a game of bowls. Both our Monday pennant sides made the most of it recording wins away from home. Premier division were at Sebastopol where they continued their strong start to the year winning by 10 shots and securing 15 points. Cameron Bryce's rink fought out a draw while Ryan Bedggood's rink won by 1 and Jeff Ryan's rink won by 9. Brilliant work by all.... Division 2 were also over at Sebastopol and had a win but it was a much different game. We came home with 12 points. Neil Ellard's rink were down by 12 and Tom Kuypers' rink lost by 2. But proving it is a team game Harry Johannsen's rink won by 24. Well done to all players.

15.01.2022 Anne and Wally Mason, our heartfelt thanks from all at BMS for your dedicated contribution to our club over several years. Wal for your hard work as a committee member, green keeper and so much more. Anne for your bubbly personality and entertaining us at Christmas along with all the work behind the scenes in the kitchen. We will miss you both. Best of luck and enjoy the next chapter. The new club you chose in Lakes Entrance will be very lucky to have you . Thanks again from all the BMS members! GO DIGGERS!!

13.01.2022 ***Match Report*** The sun was shining on what was a beautiful day for a game of bowls the only thing brighter than the sun was our results today. Premier division are now 3-0 with all rinks up at home against Creswick. Cam Bryce's rink were up by 2, Jeff Ryan's rink up by 6 but wait for it... the rink of Judy Linday, Mick Hampson, Rosie Hickman and Ryan Bedggood were up by a gigantic 31 shots meaning we got 16 points and 39 shots up. A huge effort the premier side are on fi...re early this year. Division 2 who have had a slower start to the year have finally got their first win today when they hosted Linton. Like the premiers the 2's won all 3 rinks. Tom Kuyper's rink were up by 6, Harry Johannsen's rink up by 8 and Neil Ellard's rink had a big win by 18. This gave us a 32 shot win and gets the season off and running.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to Oscar Jones (Skipper) and Ross Jones (birthday boy +1) on their win in yesterday’s Leo Clamp AFL Pairs. Excellent draw bowling. Runners up were Graham Boak and David Lindsay. The day’s sectional winners were Beau Traill & David Schreenan and Linda & Harry Johannsen.... Well done to all 32 bowlers who had a great day of bowls. Our thanks to Shane Manley and Pepper Brand Managers who were the tournament sponsors and always great supporters of our Club for which we much appreciate. As always, GI did a magnificent job for the Club in his organising of this Club tournament.

10.01.2022 ***Match Report*** Well that was a tough day to be out on the greens, so much for it being a summer sport!!!! It was worth braving the rain and occasional hail though as we got some great results today. Premier division finally got their first win for the season with a solid win at home against Ballarat. Wal Whitehead's rink had a strong 7 shot win, Mick Sloper's rink had a 6 shot win and Ryan Bedggood's rink completed the great result with a 5 shot win. 16 points is a terrif...ic result and hopefully is just the beginning. Division 2 were also at home against Ballarat and like the Premier side the 2's came away with all the points as well. Roy Crawley's rink were up by 7, Phill Clamp's rink up by 3, Jeff Ryan's rink were up by 10 and Graeme Inglis' rink won by 7. In what is their 3rd win this puts the side at the pointy end of the ladder it's early days but a brilliant start to the year for the 2s. Division 4 also find themselves in an awesome position with 3 wins to kick off their season with a 19 shot win against Mt Xavier at home. Harry Johannsen's rink won by 9, Martin Urumese's rink had a massive 22 shot win and Roy Broughton's rink had a 9 shot win. We missed out on the last 2 points as Anthony McCabe's rink lost by 3. This is an awesome start to the season for division 4 also, let's keep it going!! Division 6 were away to Clunes and came home with 16 points but they did not get them the way you would expect.... Tom Kuypers' rink won by 14 shots and Larry Wilson's rink up by 5 (including getting an 8!!!). In a strange twist both John Bettles and Anthony Braybrook's rinks had draws. This result also puts the 6's at 3-0 for the season making it another strong start to the season great work team!!! Division 7 were home against Midlands and just fell short going down by 6 shots. Mark Walker's rink were up by 7 shots, Don Ross' rink just fell short losing by 2, Similarly Tony Fletcher's rink went down by 3 and Michael Briers' rink lost by 8. It was a great effort but not enough to get the points today. It has been a tough season for the 7's with our rotation policy and a bye but everyone who has played for us has represented us well and we are thankful to each of you. Keep at it folks. Wrong Bias this week were sent down by the following Tim Clark Barry Harris Don Ross As always the club appreciates your donations. Full results are available now on our website. Go Diggers!!!

03.01.2022 Following the Victorian State Government’s planned lifting of COVID-19 restrictions yesterday (Monday May 11) and after further discussion with Sport & Recreati...on Victoria, Vic Sport and Bowls Australia, the following information lists the measures to ensure that we can return to the sport that we all enjoy from Tuesday May 12 at 11:59pm through to Sunday May 31 (pending further announcements from the State Government). The sole priority at this point in time is to provide safe social opportunities to play Bowls. We want Bowlers to start to socially connect with others in small groups, practicing Bowls. Bowls Victoria will continue to liaise with the Victorian State Government, Vicsport & Bowls Australia to provide specific advice for Bowlers for the month of June. The below link provides information for: > Clubs > Practicing Bowls > General (Around The Green) Hygiene > Facility Use INFORMATION HERE: bit.ly/2zygoDy This advice is general in nature and the COVID-19 situation is forever changing. Please keep an eye out on www.bowlsvic.org.au and our Bowls Victoria Facebook Page for any further updates in regard to restrictions. Until the Victorian Government releases a further update (estimated to be in early June 2020), these measures are for the foreseeable future, to keep Victorian Bowlers safe. Look after yourself. Look after your mates.

03.01.2022 Great photo, incredible concentration.

01.01.2022 Thank you for the wonderful announcement today Juliana Addison MP and the Andrews Labour Government together with the City of Ballarat. We look forward construction starting soon.
