13.01.2022 We have exciting news! After officially securing funding from the Ballarat City Council’s ‘Engaging Communities Grant’, we have been working behind the scenes for our community. Having joined teams with the BEST landscape architecture firm PLOT, responsible for the Lucas Estate landscaping and playground designs, we can now present a new DRAFT masterplan that integrates our ideas and then goes well BEYOND them!... This will be an EPIC GAME CHANGER for Midlands Reserve, effectively creating a beautifully landscaped, multi-use community hub that everyone can enjoy! Comments are open until the 23rd of September. You can also email Pete Appleton directly at [email protected]. If you want this to happen, give us a LIKE, COMMENT and SHARE to show your support!
12.01.2022 Meet your local committee member, Neil Para. Hello Ballarat North. I am the founder of this committee and had the inaugural meeting in January 2019. Ballarat North is already a beautiful place to live. However, there have been some areas needing improvement and I can see the progress happening now and in the future. I am very proud to be part of the committee where I am Vice President, but I am looking for someone to take over this role.... I live in Ballarat North with my wife and three daughters. I also volunteer at VICSES, I am a committee member at Friends of Black Hill Reserve, an active volunteer at Friends of Yarrowee, and a few more. I am also having a workingbee Facebook group Australiawide. Please find the group t oo join. I was one of the judges at the City of Ballarat Youth Awards in 2018, and personally, I have received a few awards including the Catherine King MP Award. This was for my community service with the Black Hill Primary School where my kids attend. I was also recently named as one of the best neighbors in Australia! I am a passionate hobby photographer and I like road trips and making new friends. I am wanting to see the committee grow with all your support. Good people make good volunteers and this committee has good volunteers. This is a dream come true for me. Please take your part too. Stay safe and be well.

07.01.2022 A Ballarat Tool Library?! What a great idea for the community! They’re looking for tool gurus. Also, if you want to join their mailing list to find out when they launch visit www.ballarattoollibrary.org
06.01.2022 GOOD NEWS ANNOUNCEMENT! A new safety fence is being installed at Midlands Aqua Park and Reserve! This will provide a barrier, between the park and the busy road of Doveton St, making it a safer play space for families with young children. This was a high priority safety concern which residents and visitors alike took to voicing to our committee. This is PHASE ONE of a multi-part project of renewing Midlands Reserve.... A huge thank you to our Committee for Ballarat North, The Ballarat City Council and everyone who gave feedback. Without your engagement, we wouldn't have been able to get this over the line. 04.01.2022 My friend Robert was teaching grade 1/2s yesterday. Also copied from his reply to my post. It's just a fun thing for kids to do. At Ballarat North PS one of the values is "community", so we spoke to the kids about why we were making our own Spoonville - because it makes the community happy to see them and we are part of the community.
04.01.2022 Meet your local committee member, Jay Morrison... Hi, my name is Jay and I live on Havelock St with my fiancé in our first home. I’ve been volunteering for over 12 months on the committee. I love projects that bring the community together as I believe collectively we can make a big difference. ... I enjoy working on my home to make it more energy efficient and beautiful, and am slowly doing up our house and garden in line with permaculture principles. I’ve been a strong advocate for the community garden aspect of the Midlands Reserve project and think it’ll be a great project that brings multiple generations together while providing fresh food to the community. I’ve done a lot of campaigning and lobbying in the past, and do it for work, so I tend to be the one pushing from behind and encouraging us not to take no for an answer when I know we’re on the right path. When facing bureaucracy and hearing ‘no’, I’ve learnt asking the question ’why?’ can get stuff done. I’m like a dog with a bone I also do a lot of other volunteer work as my way of putting back and sit on a few boards - and will be launching the Ballarat Tool Library very soon. My vision for Ballarat North is a connected community where we all look out for each other, where we can have community spaces to gather no matter our interest, and spaces we can feel proud of as they are beautiful. After the Midlands Reserve development is on its way to being delivered I’m excited to work with the community to decide our next project!
03.01.2022 Meet your local committee member, Lynette Taylor. Hello, I have been a member of the Committee for Ballarat North for over a year now. I'm proud of the improvements we have been able to achieve already in our surrounding neighborhood. I joined the committee because I wanted to support and connect with my local community. I live in Ballarat North with my tradie husband and three kids. I am passionate about the importance of education, the environment and science (PhD) and hope to be able to use some of my skills or service to better my community.
03.01.2022 Meet your local committee member, Cat Davis. Hello, I am the President of the Committee of Ballarat North but I prefer, co-collaborator . Our team is working collectively to fight for and improve the aesthetic and functionality of our local area. I live here with my husband and our son, and have a love for gardening, property and sustainability. As an Architecture student, I am the creative behind the drawings and renders of the original Midlands Revival concept. I work fro...m home as an Interior Decorator and an artist because I love finding beautiful and practical solutions to life’s habitual problems. I thrive on the idea that our lives are limitless despite the societal stereotypes or mental constraints we commonly put on ourselves. My vision for Ballarat North includes aesthetically and functionally beautiful shopping and community spaces, with landscaped areas that enable healthy community activities and social interactions. I look forward to markets, plant swapping, outdoor movie nights, and community sustainability projects.
