25.01.2022 It was a close race over the weekend but when the final bell rang, it was Inverloch on 57 and Ballarat on 49 which gave us 2nd place on the Australian participation leaderboard for (not)parkrun last week. Our fastest (not)parkrunner was Josh Maher in 19:44 and tailwalker was Patrick Cashin in 1:23:28. We are still getting first timers submitting a (not)parkrun time which is great to see so welcome to Braith Michaleff, Melinda Michaleff, Adam Clark, Lisa Dark and Lachlan Milne.... It was a good week for PB's too with 10 recorded by Lauren Knight, Josh Maher, Teresa Whelan, Warren Silvey, Fleur Haans, Matthew Klein, Christine Hutchinson, Roger Simkin, Dani Xuereb and Natalie Dreier. Warren Silvey, John Blair, Darryl Lacey & John Bradshaw completed 7 (not)parkruns for the week which is a massive achievement. Well done guys. Till next week, enjoy your (not)parkruns

25.01.2022 We are excited to confirm that parkrun events in the Northern Territory will reopen on Saturday 19 September! For updates on the status of the remaining States & Territories within Australia click here http://parkrun.me/veaqw #loveparkrun

25.01.2022 Have you logged your 5k run, walk or jog this week for (not)parkrun? This is the National participation top 3 at the moment so with 2 more weeks of (not)parkrun before we start back on the Jan 16th, let's see if we can get back that No.1 position at least one more time. Tag your friends to make sure their (not)parkrun counts

25.01.2022 Tune in for another Ballarat parkrun Facebook live event on Saturday morning at 8am. It will include some (not)parkrun ideas, how to upload a (not)parkrun and details about a fun scavenger hunt that has been put together by the Wallaby Track parkrun team. We look forward to seeing you online.

We had 10 first timers and 14 PB's recorded from the 56 (not)parkrunners that submitted their 5k run, jog or walk. 24.01.2022 A fresh start to 2021 and what a way to celebrate with a comfortable 1st place across Australia for (not)parkrun participation. Well done Ballarat on another great achievement and our second first place in a couple of weeks ahead of Inverloch, Albert Melbourne, Westerfolds and Wyndham Vale rounding out the Top 5. In reaching top spot we welcomed Michaela Gangi, Alan Haslar, Andrew Doig, Vicki Reed and Luke Nunn for their first (not)parkrun and we also had 6 individual PB's re...corded by John Blair, Elise Murphy, Natalie Dreier, Sharon Quick, Ian Chambers and Brett Sinclair. Well done to everyone. The 7 day challenge was taken out by Jennifer Cashin, Paul Cashin, John Bradshaw and Warren Silvey so congratulations to the four of you. John Blair logged the fastest time in 22:40 and the tailwalker was completed in 1:00:15 by Aislinn Hausknecht. We have 2 more weeks of (not)parkrun till we start back on Jan 16th so please watch the short video from a few days ago on some of the changes that will be in place for our restart and stay tuned for more updates as the countdown begins.

24.01.2022 A little rain has not stopped Imogen, Cathy and Rosie enjoying their (not)parkrun this morning. Still plenty of time to submit your 5km result for this week. https://www.parkrun.com.au/ballarat/results/notparkrun/

23.01.2022 This is the new COVID-19 parkrun participant code, we ask you to follow. Looking forward to seeing you on the 16th January.

22.01.2022 Just a reminder that the barcode boxes are no longer available on Saturday so you will need to make sure you bring one with you. If you don't have spares, login to your parkrun profile and click on the Barcode button which will give you a few options to obtain one. The barcode must printed out and can't be a photo of it on your phone as we cannot scan the phone screen properly.... No barcode, no result unfortunately. #loveparkrun #dfyb

We let you know when we know.

16.01.2022 We know everyone is missing parkrun dreadfully, so why not get involved in the Run for a Cause virtual event! Add yourself to the Ballarat parkrun team when you register!

15.01.2022 Some reminders as we get closer to starting parkrun ~ 16th Jan 2021. If you are joining us, please check-in by scanning our unique QR code from Services Victoria, this will be available - on our Facebook page - on our website in the news feed... - we will also have QR code posters at the start line. Stay at home if you are unwell Practice safety protocols at all times at parkrun (1.5m apart during the briefing and at finish line, no hugs, no high-fives). Please note, we will no longer have a key holder. You will need to pocket your car keys. Sadly no selfie frame for now. Don’t forget your barcode. Place a spare in your car. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon.

15.01.2022 Who's excited? After 44 weeks of no parkrun it's only one more sleep and it's parkrunday. But if you've never been to parkrun, not sure what to do or what happens? Don't worry. Every Saturday around 7:50am there is a first timers briefing to explain how it all works, an overview of the course and what you have to do. Just turn up at the start/finish area and we will call you when it's about to start.... We can't wait to see you all in the morning #loveparkrun

15.01.2022 We got our Xmas present last week and this week we could only manage 2nd place for (not)parkrun participation across Australia behind Inverloch which is still a fantastic consistent effort by everyone. Well done. We are still getting first timers submit a (not)parkrun time which is really encouraging as we move closer to a restart of normal Saturday parkruns in just 3 weeks time so welcome to Rochelle Mackenzie, Erin McPhee, Aislinn Hausknecht, Briony Jenkinson and Melissa El...lis. Ten PB's were also recorded by Elise Murphy, John Bradshaw, Aaron-Heath Jarman, Sue Brant, Rory Purdie, Sarah Watts, John Parkinson, Bryony Reichelt, Sharon Quick and Natalie Dreier. Well done to you all on improving your times. Our fastest (not)parkrunner was Sarah Watts in 20:37, our joint tailwalkers were Aaron-Heath Jarman and Rose Jarman in 1:01:33 and the 7 day challenge was taken out by Warren Silvey, John Bradshaw, Jennifer Cashin and Paul Cashin. As we get closer to the Jan 16th parkrun restart, you will start to see more posts outlining the new COVID-19 guidelines that we have to operate parkun by and how that affects you and what you need to do on the day as well as follow up requests for volunteers to help on the 16th and onwards. Till next week, enjoy your (not)parkruns

15.01.2022 The count down is on til we start on 16th January (3 Saturdays ). Calling for volunteers please, we will need to fill our volunteer roster to be able to restart. Please message us when you are available, all roles are easy and fun. You will leave with a warm fuzzy feeling, being part of the awesome parkrun community. We ask that you install the "parkrun virtual volunteer" app, or update to the newest version if you already have it.

14.01.2022 It's a current tie for first place (not)parkrun participation across Australia at the moment. Let's see if we can go No.1 two weeks in a row as we head towards our parkrun restart next Sat Jan 16th. Tag your friends and family to log their 5k time for this week if they haven't already or get an early one done today before it heats up too hot or even a nice evening stroll later this evening. Times can be submitted till 11:59pm tonight via your parkrun profile login

13.01.2022 With only 3 more sleeps till we're back at parkrun, this is just a reminder of a new requirement that we need your help with. To comply with State Government requirements to restart parkrun and assist with potential contact tracing, we have been allocated a unique QR code for Ballarat parkrun which is shown here and will also be on our Instagram page, Ballarat parkrun website and at various locations at the start/finish line. We ask that all volunteers and participants check ...in each week by scanning this QR code using the Service Victoria app on your phone (download it if you haven't got it already). You can check in before leaving home, in your car or at the start/finish line at Victoria Park. #loveparkrun

13.01.2022 We would love to see your (not)parkrun photos. Here is the link to submit your 5km result. https://www.parkrun.com.au/ballarat/results/notparkrun/... Scroll past the results table to find this. Click on the "here" to sign in with your barcode. Then submit your 5km result.

11.01.2022 One of our regular parkrunners and volunteers is now a volunteer for the City of Ballarat as an Ambassador for our Active Women and Girls program. Well done Gail.

11.01.2022 It was a case of deja vu this past week as it was a repeat of the top 4 (not)parkruns for participants across Australia. It was Inverloch at the top again very closely followed by Wishart, good ol'e us at Ballarat in 3rd, Albert Melbourne and then Lochiel rounding out the top 5. 12 PB's were also recorded by the following: Isabella Wilson, Michelle Smith, Rhianna Watts, Bendan Stevens, Brad Easdale, Claire Boatman, Fleur Haans, Jesse Dixon, Maxine Johnson, Gaye Honeyman, Jo C...hallis and Cathy Noone. Well done to all of you on a great achievement. Jesse Dixon recorded our fastest (not)parkrun time again for the week in 22:47 and Roger Simkin brought us home as tailwalker in 54:26. Rose Harrison was our only first timer so welcome Rose. Team Cashin consisting of Jennifer and Paul joined Warren Silvey, John Blair and John Bradshaw on submitting a (not)parkrun time each day last week so well done to the 5 of you. A (not)parkrun every day is a great effort. As the weather warms up we have seen a few of our (not)parkrunners complete their runs or walks earlier in the day to avoid the heat which we're not quite used to yet but if you can't do them till later in the day just remember to rehydrate sufficiently. If you've never completed a (not)parkrun before there's nothing special you have to do except submit your time via your online parkrun profile for any 5k walk, run or jog you complete. Just follow the link at the bottom of the weekly Ballarat (not)parkrun results page and submit your time. https://www.parkrun.com.au/ballarat/results/notparkrun/

10.01.2022 Tonight was the awards ceremony of the Keep Victoria Beautiful 2020 sustainable cities awards. The Ballarat parkrun and the Wallaby Track parkrun were entered into 2 categories - Community and Social Well-being. We were finalist in both categories, among many worthy entries. We did not win, but it was fantastic to be able to represent our awesome parkruns and to promote all the amazing aspects of parkrun.

10.01.2022 One of the sponsors of parkrun, good luck picking just 5 winners.

The 7 day challenge (and overall totals against their names) went to Bruce Purdie (209), Warren Silvey (141), John Bradshaw (101), Jennifer Cashin (82) and Paul Cashin (71).
