25.01.2022 Be kind to yourself

23.01.2022 Thank you for the amazing response we’ve received from those who have offered to share their story for our video production. We have had an overwhelming response and now have reached capacity. The response we’ve received is representative of the stories we aim to tell that may save lives. We, and all those we aim to support thank you

23.01.2022 What is the significance of the sunflowers to suicide prevention? The sunflower symbolises hope, warmth, strength and support and that you’re not alone. Petals glow a rich yellow to be reminded that there is always hope. Sunflowers follow the pathway of the Sun. May you feel warmth and comfort. ... The stem is a strong support. May you find strength and support in those around you The centre brims with hundreds of seeds. Look around you. May you know you are not alone Today we walk together in solidarity in the Begonia Festival Parade

21.01.2022 Please be advised that our network name has been changed to Ballarat and District Suicide Awareness Network Inc. A few things to note....... Our Beat 'N' The Blues event scheduled for 22 August 2020 has been deferred this year. Please reach out in other ways within your community to support those who are trying to 'beat the blues' including those within business communities who have supported this event in the past and are challenged themselves due to Coronavirus.... RU Okay Day is Thursday 10 September which coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day. This year's 'Out of The Shadows' Walk will take a different format. We are working on this at the moment. For those who would like to have their loved ones name read, please contact us by private message through our Facebook or through our email [email protected] Keep safe everyone.....

04.01.2022 Today we have been made aware via the eSafety Commissioner who has confirmed distressing reports about an explicit video circulating social media platforms. The eSafety Commissioner has contacted social media companies about the reports and will continue working with them to monitor the situation. Report indicate that the video link has been re shared on platforms including, (but not limited to) Tik Tok, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. To increase the likelihood... of children opening the link it has alarmingly also been edited and re shared to begin with general content (images of cats) before switching to the footage of a bearded man sitting in front of a camera. We encourage people who encounter this content to report it to the social media platform they have seen it on and also to the eSafety Commissioner at www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content. If anyone has viewed the link and is feeling distressed please ring Lifeline on 13 11 14.
