18.01.2022 Many of you will have seen this shared around the place already, but for those of you that haven't, it's well worth a read. We grow three local species of Poa (Poa labillardieri, Poa sieberiana, and Poa morrisii) grown from locally collected seed. Each species fills it's own niche in the natural environment.

18.01.2022 So proud to have been involved in the establishment of this garden. What a great display of local species

18.01.2022 You learn something new every day

17.01.2022 Though some are hesitant to plant wattles, it’s important to remember that we’re not just planting for ourselves (or we shouldn’t be). Including a diverse range of indigenous species in any planting, big or small, helps us to protect and hopefully restore balance to our local environment. #plantlocal #wildplants #butterflies #ballarat

16.01.2022 500 more Eucalyptus viminalis (Manna gum) tubes ready to finish hardening off before going into spring plantings. #spring #plantlocal #wildplants #ballarat

15.01.2022 Tiny Eucalyptus rubida (Candlebark) seedlings emerging to make a mini forest. We’ve pricked out and seeded tens of thousands of plants already, and have tens of thousands more to go. It looks like being a big year for the nursery.

13.01.2022 This little tree frog had been hiding amongst our tall spike rush tubs til I disturbed him getting stock ready for tomorrow’s planting. It’s a pretty good sign when our wetland plants are already habitat for wildlife before we even get them out of the nursery. #frogs #plantlocal #wildplants #ballarat #wetlands

13.01.2022 Some interesting facts regarding one of our more common butterfly species

11.01.2022 Morning harvest. They’re not as prolific as their exotic cousins, but the local Rubus parvifolius (Native raspberry) still makes an interesting addition to the bush food garden, and provides great food and habitat for small birds and other wildlife, even if only a small snack for us. *currently out of stock, but we are hoping to have more grown on from local seed, by late autumn/winter #growlocal #ballarat #bushfood #wildplants

06.01.2022 It’s that time of the year again. Apologies for being even harder to catch at the nursery than usual, but safe to say that we’ve ‘got a bit on’. #wildplants #atitagain #clunes #plantlocal #spring

05.01.2022 Great to see an even wider recognition of the significance of these humble little plants. It would be amazing to see them grown as a viable food crop in the future We should have a fresh batch available later in the year. #wildplants #ballarat #bushfoods #growlocal

02.01.2022 Over 15000 trees and shrubs, over 90% survival, and some exceptional growth rates. Pretty pleased with our results to date

02.01.2022 Another interesting post by Australian Butterfly Conservation. We don’t have any kangaroo grass available at the moment, but even our local wallaby grasses, and tussocks are larval food plants for a range of butterflies and moths, as well as providing valuable habitat.
