22.01.2022 Good grip, good hygiene and a good stretch! Walkover into arabesque fouett and a la seconde on fondu. I love the depth of this stretch and using the trapeze to help facilitate a supported stretch

20.01.2022 Creating some single leg bridging combinations today. Ive told a few people this week how Ive found a lot of similarity between this situation and when I was rehabbing my knee. Creating my own schedule, working out from home, a lot of alone time, the discipline and self motivation required for a long/unknown time frame and the challenges mental and physical it brings. So there is some comfort in the familiarity. Creating classes has taken a lot of work, but Ive enjoyed it. Im happy to share I have another Vimeo mat class up and ready to go. Please let me know if you are interested and Ill share the passcode with you. Take care and be safe Lisa

18.01.2022 I had a few people asking about this after a previous post, so here are some exercises with the pilates stick. Going through some basics for abdominal connecti...on. Overhead arms, single/double leg floats, single/double toe taps, single leg extension plus added chest lift. All these working with the opposition of resistance. Happy Monday! See more

18.01.2022 Baby got back - working in external rotation and into some diving swan. I quite like the resistance band around the ankles as it helps stabilize the position and work symmetry throughout the body.

16.01.2022 Monday ball skills! Teaser beats using the ball to maintain turn out and keep calves forward with adductors engaged. Into roll over and teaser for abdominal control.

14.01.2022 This month I celebrate having my Diploma in Pilates Movement Therapy for 3 years. Im so happy. I started pilates back when I was about 15yrs old to supplement my dance training. And its still very much a staple in my daily routine. Ive had some wonderful mentors, particularly during some very hard injury rehab that inspired me. Its the combination of being a professional ballerina for 18yrs, along with the rehabilitation and passion for pilates that I find quite special and gives me a unique understanding of. Its that, that I love and want to share. P.S This was really hard. You probably cant see but my body is stabilizing like mad, particularly on that rond to the side, oof!

14.01.2022 Sur la Pointe - Whether youre coming back from an injury, are just beginning or trying to get yourself together after months of trying to dance at home, a good way to ease back into pointe work is to control the loading. Demonstrated here on the Pilates jumpboard. Less impact will be a gentler approach and you can focus on intrinsic strength and alignment rather than just using force to get up and enforce bad habits. Itll also be a kinder way to toughen up the feet again!

13.01.2022 Bit of shoulders, arms and balance on demi pointe using the springboard. I like playing with different pulls to test and strengthen opposition in the body. Monday Madness

11.01.2022 More Bosu love Step ups & Rond de jambe jete. Great for supporting leg glute strength and stability and taking extra care with knee alignment. Holding some extra weight to work the length and lift through the supporting side. Do you Bosu???

11.01.2022 Monday Funday! Shoulder stabilisation enhanced by adding the Bosu during some down stretch and plank combos on the reformer.

03.01.2022 Hi Guys! My first Pilates Mat Showcase is now uploaded. Took a bit longer than anticipated but am ready to share with you! Please DM your preference sharing method and I will forward the link and password access etc But right now Im off to bed!

01.01.2022 Monday Musings - Preparation and Movement. It’s so important to have the muscles ready and warm before starting exercising, class etc. This is something I’m a huge advocate for. How do you expect your body to work it’s best if it’s not properly prepared? This also includes your brain. Your mind body connection. I’ve danced for almost 35 years and done Pilates for nearly 25! Movement is my thing. I always feel better and more myself when I’m connected with my body. I always ...tried to have a light sweat before I started my class work. That way I can get the best out of my work and not use what should be for improving technique, to just get warm. They are already pliable and can reach full range of movement. As I got older the warm up became increasingly important throughout my career. After injuries also, but then I would make it more specific to the areas that needed some extra help. Yes, we want to work hard and push ourselves, but it’s also ok to have rest days. You need to work smart. The aim is longevity. Not just in movement, but also for quality of life. See more
