24.01.2022 Last night marked the return to our beloved Princess Theatre for Launceston's theatrical community. We are so thankful that our beautiful senior student, Lauren Colson was given the opportunity to be a part of this community fundraising event, representing our school. She was luminous as always. An emotional and touching performance. Photograph - Ross Marsden #cominghome #princesstheatrelaunceston

24.01.2022 3 days of Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations (with a virtual twist ) starting on World Ballet Day (of all days) and ending today. Ms Jacqui could not have done this without the incredible support and love from her amazing teachers, Miss Belle & Miss Ruby. A team effort which truly made the three days run so smoothly. Thankful for our BDAT family and absolutely proud of our beautiful students who have shown what dedication, discipline, resilience and tenacity can produce. 2020 our BDAT babies faced with courage. BDAT Pride. #bdatfamily

12.01.2022 From little things big things grow We’re excited for another week of beautiful dancing at BDAT #balletanddanceartstasmania

11.01.2022 Counting down to ballet exams! We are so fortunate to still have the opportunity to participate in this important milestone albeit with a few modifications! #radfilmedexams2020 #balletanddanceartstasmania #motivated

09.01.2022 Get to meet one of our amazing teachers! Ruby Waddle (better known as Miss Ruby by our lovely students) teaches ballet, stretch and fit ball. An elegant dancer, she is classically trained having successfully completed her Advanced 2 RAD examination in 2018. She is part of the dynamic trio that together share a long history with the school at Mann Street. Did you grow up dancing at Mann Street? I sure did! I’ve been here ever since I turned 3 and have loved every second of i...t. My second home! Highlight of being a teacher at BDAT? Being able to start sharing everything that I have learned throughout my years of dancing and seeing the students faces light up when they get to learn a new step or finally achieve something they’ve been working so hard on. What’s your favourite time of the BDAT year? I love the beginning of the year when everyone is rested and raring to go! Getting stuck into new class work, seeing everyone’s confidence and abilities grow over the year and then finishing the year with a bang! It all starts with that first exciting jump into the beginning of the ballet year! What do you like to do on your days off? I love getting out there and enjoying nature! Hiking, swimming and catching up with friends! I always like to keep busy and get out doors so I can make the most of every second and never regret not living life to the fullest. What’s your secret talent? Quickly memorising lines for drama performances and binge watching top gear! #bdatfamily

08.01.2022 Happy World Day! A special day as it coincides with our first day of ballet exams

07.01.2022 Now that ballet examinations are completed we're onto what is undisputedly the BDAT Family's favorite time of the year - Concert time! Together we're excitedly creating something magical. #bdatfamily

06.01.2022 Let’s go Term 1!! #bdatfamily

06.01.2022 It’s our last lesson for the year so after a light open barre we curled up on our BDAT blanket and watched a bit of a Christmas classic, The Nutcracker. We love ballet. #bdatfamily

05.01.2022 Meet our Principal and head of our teaching trifecta Ms Jacqui! With over 30 years experience in classical ballet, 25 years of which is associated with the school, Jacquelyne France-Marsden is a fully qualified Royal Academy of Dance Registered Teacher. She holds her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies and completed her Advanced 2 examination with Distinction in 2006 and is also a graduate of University of Tasmania with a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences. She is very e...xcited to be launching into the new year with her budding ballerina's and sharing in her love of ballet. Did you grow up dancing at Mann Street? Yes - although I started ballet when I was 3 in Hong Kong, from the age of 8 I’ve been living, breathing ballet at Mann Street. Highlight of being a teacher at BDAT. Having the fortunate opportunity to be a part of the dance (and life) journey of so many young dancers - watching them grow and develop into strong independent human beings is undeniably fulfilling and more so because I think back to when I was once upon a time in their very shoes, in our beautiful home. It really is a full circle experience and I feel blessed to be able to give them experiences and knowledge that was given to me in the same environment. 1 Mann Street is the home of art, love and family. Through all of this, I’m also so appreciative to have two magnificent women by my side, who I’ve been fortunate enough to witness blossom from young ballet students to teachers within their own right. Miss Ruby and Miss Belle are highlights to work with. What’s your favorite time of the BDAT Year? So many - the start of every term; whenever we’re creating a new dance; whenever the babies rush in and tell me what new experience they’ve had; whenever I hear my girls laugh; whenever I witness a challenge overcome or a moment of personal triumph by a student (whatever it may be); whenever I see the camaraderie amongst our students and the love they have for each other. Every day is a blessing! Concert time however, collectively is a pretty special time of the year. What’s your secret talent? Stand-up comedian that laughs at all her own jokes+ tidying up after Chef Ross #bdatfamily

05.01.2022 Let’s get to know another of our amazing teachers - Miss Belle! Belle Paley is currently undertaking her Bachelor of Health & Physical Education and is our contemporary and jazz teacher. She, along with all BDAT teachers have a strong link to the school, spending her childhood at Mann Street studying classical ballet. Her dance journey has taken her to Melbourne where she furthered her exploration in contemporary dance. It is so wonderful, to now have her guiding our beautifu...l students through their individual dance experiences. Did you grow up dancing at Mann Street? I sure did! I started dancing at Mann Street when I was 3 - I joined because my older sister loved it. Highlight of being a teacher at BDAT. It's so special watching our students grow and working with two other amazing super-human teachers. My most favourite part of any lesson is talking with our students about their days at the very beginning of class; I love hearing about what else students are learning, special skills and things they enjoy outside of our school - we have such clever students and I love supporting every aspect of their lives. What’s your favorite time of the BDAT Year? Christmas!! I think everyone agrees that the energy in the room is exciting when the students find out what the concert is; listening to their music and finding out which part they will dance is so special. It is a great way to wrap up such a busy year and share some magic with our families of BDAT. What do you like to do on your day off? A lot of my spare days are spent studying and catching up with every day jobs that I push out until the last minute (I hate cleaning the kitchen.....) BUT, once these jobs are done I love going on adventures with my partner Luke and seeing my family - the most special people in the world. What is your secret talent? I don't think I have one?! One day I'd like my secret talent to be a good baker - my mum makes the best desserts and I am determined to become half of the cook she is. Practise makes perfect, so I should really practise more but.... one day! #bdatfamily

04.01.2022 A ballet family that dances together feasts together. Snapshot by Luke Bone of two of our stellar teachers from last year’s BDAT Christmas BBQ. We’ll learn more of them soon as our get to know series shifts to our incredible teaching staff. Want to be a part of our family? Enrollments still open for 2021. #bdatfamily

02.01.2022 Sending our warmest congratulations to our alumni, Amelia Reynolds who has achieved top 12 ranking in contemporary at the Youth America Grand Prix. Congratulations also to her fellow dancers at Classical Coaching Australia on such a wonderful achievement. The BDAT family are cheering from Tassie #bdatfamily
