10.01.2022 FUNDRAISER FOR JOSIE!! https://ballinarsl.com.au/event/disco-fundraiser/

04.01.2022 It fills me with so much pride and joy to have been given the opportunity throughout term to watch our extraordinary educators work so hard to create meaningful connections and provide an environment where children feel safe, secure, supported and ready to ‘play’. ‘Play’ provides opportunities for children to learn as they discover, create, improvise and imagine. When children play with other children they create social groups, test out ideas, challenge each others’ thinki...ng and build new understandings. ‘Play’ provides a supportive environment where children can ask questions; solve problems and engage in critical thinking. ‘Play’ can expand children’s thinking and enhance their desire to know and to learn. In these ways play can promote positive dispositions towards learning. Throughout the year we have seen our ‘educators’ take on many roles in play with children and use a range of strategies to support learning. They have engaged in sustained shared conversations with children to extend their thinking and provide a balance between child led, child initiated and educator supported learning. They have created learning environments that encourage children to explore, solve problems, create and construct. They have recognised spontaneous teachable moments as they have occurred, and used them to build on children’s learning. They have promoted and modeled positive ways to relate to others and actively supported the inclusion of all children in play, helping them to recognise when play is unfair and offer constructive ways to build a caring, fair and inclusive learning community. But most importantly they have created a welcoming learning environment that reflects and enriches the lives and identities of children and families participating, responding to their strengths, abilities, interests and needs. As the Director, I oversee all, supporting and guiding the educators, but I also always allocate time throughout the day to spend with each group so that I to can build meaningful connections and learn about each individual child and their families. National Quality Standard 3 - Physical Environment. 'Inclusive built and natural environments in indoor and outdoor spaces, when appropriately resources, promote play based learning.'
