25.01.2022 How can we support older residents? One of the suggestions from the community consultation undertaken to date has been to extend public transport options to include transport to larger health and tourist facilities (on the Gold Coast for instance) on a daily basis, and include a night service of public transport. What do you think? Would this be well supported in your opinion?...... www.ballina.nsw.gov.au/BMRCS See more

24.01.2022 One of the actions in the Ballina2035 Strategy to meet future challenges is for Council to investigate the ways in which Ballina can best respond to climate change, including potential sea level rise and coastal erosion, that are effective, practical and affordable. This task is complex due to the range of factors that need to be considered including environmental factors, infrastructure and engineering issues, private property issues and the cost of possible responses. Because of this complexity, these issues need to be looked at together and in detail to identify a viable long-term strategy for responding to climate change. What do you think about this?

14.01.2022 How can we get the infrastructure that we need? Some ideas that have come out of the community consultation so far include: -Council needs to identify and support Ballina CBD as a primary area for the collocation of health services and facilities (aside from the Ballina Hospital).... -CBD new car parking areas should be flexible enough to be used for events too. That is, they should have provision for power, internet access, walls that could be used for the screening of films, and green spaces adjacent to them to be incorporated into this possible second use. www.ballina.nsw.gov.au/BMRCS What are your thoughts? Let Council know.

11.01.2022 How can we grow local employment? The community engagement undertaken so far has resulted in a few great ideas, like: -Council should encourage the development of a local food culture by protecting the viability of agricultural production and supporting the local food manufacturing industry, food retailers, restaurants, farmer's markets, community gardens, and food festivals. -Take advantage of transport linkages by developing a commercial precinct adjacent to the airport and... the establishment of a transport logistics centre. 03.01.2022 How can we have suitable housing? To provide for our future housing needs, we have a number of options including: 1. Rely on new land release areas away from existing development or adjacent to other urban areas, and keep existing residential areas as they are.... 2. Allow for modest density increases (like allowing dual occupancy dwellings) in all existing residential areas. 3. Allow targeted increase in densities for areas close to services and amenities (4-6 storey buildings, close to the CBD and key open space areas). What would you like to see happen? Let Council know. www.ballina.nsw.gov.au/BMRCS
