21.01.2022 Another amazing morning, set off in an OC6 and an OC2 from the beach where BOCC is located (near the sailing club). Stopped off in front of the Marine Rescue tower to radio in that we were heading out for an hours paddle. The sun was rising the bar was smooth as a baby's bum so out we heading into the Pacific Ocean to look for Humpback Whales. Eyes right, eyes left no whales and THEN up ahead there they were! Blowing out their air and gently rising and shallow diving. We sat and watched these majestic giants for a while then as we started to head back, a big Daddy popped up very close to Brian and Graham. There was a bit more action with some tail flips and one good breach as we headed back.

18.01.2022 Summer is just around the corner and it is a great time to be out on the fantastic waterways around Ballina. New members welcome.

14.01.2022 A timely reminder about canoe maintenance and care. This is what happens when you don’t dismantle, inspect and give your canoe some tlc for a year...guess I am going to have to find someone who can make iakos in southern qld or far north Nsw. Any recommendations?

07.01.2022 Brisk morning it was 9 degrees. BOCC is officially now back on the water, holding club meetings. However only on our OC1's and OC'2 (if you co-habitat)

03.01.2022 Thanks to Bruce Parry we now have another addition to our OC1 fleet. Bruce donated his ? years old family outrigger to our club. It needed a bit of reconstruction so in his Broadwater repair shop Steve bought the old girl back to life. BOCC hasn't confirmed the new name yet, but i think it may go to the 'Relic'.

02.01.2022 On Saturday BOCC and Bagot Park Landcare joined together to hold a garage sale. It was A very successful day with both community groups raising maintenance funds for their groups. Our group of volunteers were entertained by our school teacher and engineer members for at least an hour and a half while they tried to erect the basketball stand that we had for sale. Finally in frustration they declared there was a piece missing. Just at the crucial moment Tina arrived, who had donated the stand and said everything was there. Did you check inside the larger pipe? ...... uh oh it was there all the time hiding all they had to do was release the lever. Lol And then it was sold

01.01.2022 First day back on the water in an OC6. Sunday was the shortest day of the year, beautiful morning, no wind, sunshine and the bar was calm. With Dave, Brian, Tina, Graham, Lyn and Steve as the steerer we headed out to see if any Whales were around. Dolphins greeted us as we crossed the bar, then more dolphins seen in the area. Alas no whales to be seen this morning.
