25.01.2022 Our month of May continues with the theme of what else can go wrong?!?! We have our new cria struggling to survive with possible pneumonia (found her on deaths door yesterday, has made huge improvements - thanks again to Lachie from CVS), and Jet, not wanting to be outdone by Blue, with an abscess blow out & him walking like his foot has come off!

24.01.2022 There I was thinking I was a good caretaker of all my animals. Especially my pregnant miniature donkey Harriette. I’ve been telling everyone that she is due around the 30th December. I was proudly showing her to some friends today, when I looked at her & thought, wow, you are close! It got the better of me, went though old messages etc, discovered that she is actually due in less then 2 weeks Needless to say our afternoon plans changed to making a maternity yard closer to the house so we can keep a watchful eye on her

23.01.2022 Looking for a couple of helpers for alpaca shearing next Monday (4th November). Please message me for more details

23.01.2022 Little Victoria enjoying the sunshine

23.01.2022 We have been lucky to be selling a number of alpacas recently, be it as pets, lamb guards, lawn mowers or for breeding. I always struggle saying goodbye, however today was one of the hardest. Moonlight & Sinatra have held a special place in my heart & I never thought I’d part with them. However as soon as I met Alex & Jo I knew they were meant to go together. As much as I will miss them, I know my boys have gone to a wonderful home, where they will be spoilt rotten!

22.01.2022 When you have an itch

22.01.2022 Today, rather than sharing our tribulations, I thought we should share a triumphant. Little Victoria kicking up her heels today

21.01.2022 Mum may not be a dog trainer, but she sure has these 4 boofers under control. Every time she visits they wait anxiously for her to leave knowing they all get a treat Other photos are sibling rivalry between Terra & Meg, Terra & Simba fighting over the bed and Meg recovering from hypothermia last weekend.

21.01.2022 The last 2 days have given us some beautiful spring weather. The younger boys have been moved to a paddock next to the girls (much to the ladies horror, I think they were eyeing off all that feed for themselves lol). We had yet another wild life surprise visitor, with Louie finding this ring tail possum. I have taken her to the local vet as we think Louie may have been overly keen with his welcome. Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery and can be released back on the property to raise her baby soon

21.01.2022 A huge welcome to our new agistee Chari-lee Zanker with Bucky and Flair. We are extremely lucky to add Chari to our little tribe here as she is a wonderfully talented instructor and will be offering lessons here at Wilparinga Park.

19.01.2022 Welcome to the family, little Terra aka Terror. Louie is looking at permanent retirement after partially rupturing his other ACL so we needed another apprentice to help Meg out on the farm in the future. This is Megs full sister, no wonder Meg isnt too sure about her

19.01.2022 Shearing is done and dusted for another year, although Lee did end up with some war wounds courtesy of Venus. Thanks so much to James Wheeler for shearing and his off sider Emily. A huge thank you to Stephanie Blesing for travelling over 3 hours to come down to help, we couldnt have got through it without you

18.01.2022 We still havent decided on a name yet, but whatever it is, she sure is a little time waster with lots of attitude!!

18.01.2022 Little Rumble had his hernia surgery today. Things took a little longer than thought, however he is expected to make a full recovery Thanks to Dr Jason and nurse Liz from Adelaide Hills Veterinary Services for all their help

18.01.2022 Well, after everything we have been through, our mini me Louie arrived a little sooner than expected. Little Meg got the full tour of the place, however it got too dark so no photos of her meeting the mini donkeys until tomorrow

17.01.2022 Things always seem to be hectic here at Wilparinga Park. This week has seen little Dorje settling in well, welcoming two new agistees, meeting a few families who visited to meet the alpacas & donkeys (& of course the dogs), Jet & Blue finally getting into their big paddock, plus myriad of other things. Tomorrow brings the barefoot trimmer for the horses & donkeys, then bring on the weekend!....hang on, whats a weekend?!?!?

17.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who managed to drop in for our open weekend. The weather was a mixed bag, with yesterday being glorious, followed by todays arctic blast lol! I didnt manage to take many photos of every one, but hope you all enjoyed yourselves

16.01.2022 Marli, Victoria and Velvet enjoyed being allowed out of prison for a run. Marlis hoof is healing up well, however she is still being locked up in the dairy to keep it clean & dry. We have had some nice weather and so let them out for a hoon in the backyard.

16.01.2022 Little Meg has had a great time exploring the property over the last few days. She has settled in so well, she has even mastered the new dog door without any prompting (while the big dogs still have no idea how to use it ). Her new favourite chew toy is horse poo, kept her entertained for ages

16.01.2022 I found Jude recovering from the yearly ordeal that is shearing today Thank you to everyone who helped out earlier this week with shearing, especially James, Emily, Lisa, Megan, Luke & my lovely husband Lee. Also to mum Andrea for putting up with me & making sure we were well fed.

15.01.2022 Well, I think we are officially insane! Welcome to the newest member of our family, little Dorje. Anyone want to take a guess at her breed (those who we have told please dont say lol). Apologies for the puppy spam

15.01.2022 Today was farrier day, I think little Victoria loved getting cuddles while mum Velvet had her hooves trimmed 4 donkeys & 2 horses trimmed. Thanks Jenny and Jennie for your great work in this horrible humid weather.

15.01.2022 The last month has once again been extremely busy as Lee recovers from his surgery. Lambing is well and truely underway (unfortunately we have had many losses due to the weather & foxes), alpaca matings and births are now all done for this season, horse, donkey & dog injuries continue to mount up, bottle feeding babies continue and thats just to name a few of our ups & downs

14.01.2022 Little Victoria had her first hoof trim yesterday. I wish I could say that she was well behaved, however, as is her way, she threw a little tantrum lol! Ive never seen a donkey trimmed this way before Thank you so much to Jennie Murray The Barefooter and Jenny Austin from Train Teach Trim for your wonderful patience with a spoilt brat

12.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who has contacted us today to check that we are ok. At this stage we are ok, the fire has been too close for comfort at only around 5kms away, however we have been extremely lucky with no problems here yet. We enacted our fire plan first thing this morning, and it has been an extreme learning curve on this new property. All stock are still in their fire safe areas for the night, fingers crossed for an uneventful night. Thank you so much to the CFS and all volunteers for such a great job fighting fires in this extreme environment. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these fires.

12.01.2022 What a lovely winters day to spend with family and friends. Jude was happy to finally have some visitors to give him lots of attention, as was Little Thing. Earlier in the day I was reminded why you shouldnt have a dog door when you have maremmas

12.01.2022 Wishing everyone a merry and safe Christmas

11.01.2022 Today we had the first birth on the new property. He certainly wasnt expected as I had Rubys due date down for early December, but sometimes you get a wonderful surprise. His birth wasnt without complications though, with a massive hernia requiring veterinary assistance (thanks to Jason from the Adelaide Hills Vet Clinic for coming out on the weekend). Jason poked the innards back in and has placed a temporary belly band on and is scheduling surgery asap.

11.01.2022 Looking for someone to help assist with alpaca shearing on Monday 2nd November. Experience not necessary, however the ability to work with livestock & maintain a healthy sense of humour a must! Also the possibility of work the afternoon before & the day after.

08.01.2022 The joys of owning horses Blue managed to get herself in a little bit of trouble late yesterday afternoon Thanks to Lachie from Cameron Veterinary Services for coming out bright & early this morning to patch her up

07.01.2022 After what seemed like an eternity, Velvet finally gave birth to a beautiful dark filly tonight. We are so very lucky to have been able to witness the birth right from the start (& in daylight ). Thanks to Shane from Malakai Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys for allowing us the opportunity to get into breeding these wonderful animals. Now to find a suitable name, looking for something uniquely Australian (as its Australia Day), starting with V......

07.01.2022 Ive just returned home from a quick road trip with Callahan to Victoria to pick up some of our new additions! Thanks to Shane from Malakai Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys for allowing us the opportunity to increase our breeding herd with some wonderful stock, and for even bringing them half way across the state so I could pick them up at Nhill. Looking forward to seeing what the future holds

07.01.2022 Our apologies to everyone who we havent responded to, or have been a little vague, can I just say that the last fortnight has just been a little bit trying (for want of a better word lol ). Dealing with sick, dying & dead animals, as well as injuries, surgery and family issues, has left us with little time to communicate. However, we would rather focus on the positives, and one of our highlights is The Little Thing. Born premature 10 days ago we had to make the choice to take her off her mum to hand raise. She was only 4kg at birth & is now over 5kg! Fingers crossed she can pull through

06.01.2022 We keep telling everyone that we will eventually have a house warming party. Well, we will never be ready for one so we have decided to bite the bullet and have an open weekend on Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th August, from 11am til late both days. If you could let us know if you are coming that would be great as we will provide a few nibbles (byo drinks). Looking forward to seeing a few of you here

05.01.2022 Im sorry for the donkey spam but they are just soooo cute!!!

05.01.2022 Beautiful evening the other night with the coos

04.01.2022 Dont you just love a late night delivery!?! Welcome to the family

03.01.2022 This is what little Queen Victoria thought of all this rain

01.01.2022 Today we welcomed our very first agistees as the new owners of Wilparinga Park. Tiny and Mojo settled in extremely well, even coping with their new alpaca neighbours with ease. Looking forward to seeing Cate and Claudia out and about with these lovely boys on the property.

01.01.2022 We had a surprise visitor this evening, we found this little guy in a pine tree in the donkey paddock. Hopefully he makes his way to the more suitable gum trees soon. Lee has been refencing the donkey paddock to give them a bigger area, I think its taken him twice as long as it should have with his 2 little helpers

01.01.2022 What a fantastic way to see out the end of this years showing season at the Strathalbyn Show. We even managed to score some broad ribbons. Thank you to everyone involved in putting the show together, especially the convenor Susan Haese and the judge Molly Gardner (who came all the way from New Zealand to share her insights on our show animals).
