24.01.2022 Balnarring Picnic Racing Club - COVID-19 Update - Dear Friends of Balnarring Races. In conjunction with Racing Victoria, Country Racing Victoria and the State and Federal Governments, it is with great disappointment that we announce due to the Covid-19 crisis our meeting set to be held on 11 April 2020 will be abandoned. The Federal government has announcement that all non-essential gatherings of more than 500 people from Monday 16th of March will be banned. We are not the o...nly Picnic Club to be affected as the other four remaining Picnic meetings for the season have also been abandoned. This disappointing development comes on the back of record season attendances at Balnarring and the Club thanks our racing partners, Sponsors, Community Partners, Members and patrons for their ongoing support. Rest assured that the Club will be working hard during the off season to improve our facilities even further and ensure that we will continue to enjoy the Picnic racing experience next season. Retired racehorse Module (aka Sam) has played a huge part in picnic racing in Victoria and was given a new purpose as the Clerks horse. ... We're saddened to hear Sam was rushed into emergency surgery for intestinal issues late last night. The financial costs will be high given he'll need to be rehabilitated for a full recovery. We appreciate this is disappointing news but necessary in order to protect everyone's safety. Decisions as to whether our other scheduled picnic race meetings proceed will be made closer to the date of each. 04.01.2022 Our old watering system involved moving sprinklers every 6-8 hrs by hand which was very time consuming and a bit hit and miss. Needless to say, we are super excited about our new system being installed. It will be automatic, able to be controlled from a mobile phone and the increased water flow will allow a more even watering of the track and a better surface for the horses to race on. Everyones a winner! #CountryRacing
