22.01.2022 Just because a space is small, doesn't mean it can't be mighty. There are lots of tips to make small feel big. In this kitchen we; - We used integrated appliances e.g. dishwasher and fridge to allow the small area to flow with no interruptions. In doing this it seemed as though we doubled the size of the kitchen space.... - We opted for simple white matt cabinetry to minimise reflection and add openness to the small space. The simple glass taupe splashback further adds to the minimalist design approach. - We ensured the internal design of all of the cabinets make the best use of the space and prioritised easy access. 21.01.2022 If you’re looking to design a modern farmhouse kitchen, you’ll need a few basic ingredients: Modern features, rustic elements, and industrial-inspired accents. When you blend these together in the right amounts, you’ll end up with a kitchen that’s warm, inviting, and yet perfectly suitable and functional for modern living. For this project in Padstow, we added plenty of fresh colours and combined with pops of stylised hardware. What do you think? ... See full project here - https://buff.ly/3acJt5B

20.01.2022 Looking for a way to make you rangehood less rangehood-y? Cooking with gas is a breeze. Finding a snazzy range hood to do so? Not so much. See that silver pendant? It's a rangehood. We know this, because this Lilyfield home was one of our 2019 projects. ... Why Hide It? A concealed or built-in range hood is integrated into the kitchen and out of sight. Hiding a hood, or any appliance for that matter helps focus the attention on the kitchen cabinetry and other design elements, rather than on the appliance itself. Concealed hoods are especially beneficial in a small kitchen, which can get visually cluttered when lots of appliances are out in the open. #BCKitchens #BCLilyfield #BalneiandColina

15.01.2022 We loved working this window splashback into our Oatly project, and it seems the client was also happy! Their unique insights and design expertise was invaluable and ensured the best possible outcome for our project. Thanks to B&C, I have a kitchen that is practical, quality built and looks fantastic!... I would recommend Balnei & Colina to anyone. Mary, Oatley See full project here - https://buff.ly/2XM0Nt3

14.01.2022 Looking for that dream entertainers kitchen? Our tips are to ensure you have plenty of seating. This custom-designed island bench in our Randwick project allowed under bench seating to provide a place for casual dining and gave a more open space layout. Dual entry and exit points created the optimum flow of traffic, and the new casual dining area provided extra counter space for food preparation as well as a place for gathering and casual dining. ... 10.01.2022 Tossing up installing induction in your kitchen? We're big induction fans, and it isn't just because of the clean lines and easy to wipe surface. Induction cooktops are also far more efficient, faster and more precise. In addition, the cooktop surface stays cool, so you don't have to worry about burning your hand. It's even possible to put a paper towel between a spattering frying pan and an induction burner, though you’d want to keep an eye on that. Remember, the cooktop ...doesn't get hot, but the pan does. This induction top in our Woolloomooloo renovation was also the better option due to the limited existing bench space. What's your opinion on induction? 10.01.2022 The best thing about laundries? You can have a little fun! Laundries are often hidden away, so why not opt for those green cabinets you've always drooled over. Play around with textures and colours without a worry for what the guests might think! We had fun with hardware and colours in our Penshurst laundry and it quickly became the owners favourite room in the house! ... View the project here - https://buff.ly/37mnaYI

10.01.2022 If you love putting together new drinks and entertaining family and friends then having a home bar should be on your next to-do list. Before you customize your home bar, figure out exactly where you want it. This North Shore project was perfectly placed near the outdoor entertaining area and was finished with all of the bells and wh...istles. See full project here - https://buff.ly/30GkiVJ

08.01.2022 Have you always dreamed of a walk-in robe like this one from our Lower North Shore project? Your walk-in-robe, let’s call it a boudoir, sounds a lot more romantic, is really a blank canvas ready for you to customize to suit your storage needs. Instead of struggling to find your wow outfit for the day in a dark dungeon with piles of clothes and shoes, be ready to be instantly inspired by easy to find items! Getting your boudoir design right can mean not only making the outfit selection process easier but also motivate you to change your ‘old house’ habits and stop leaving piles of clothes and shoes on the floor. 08.01.2022 Having trouble combining the old and the new? In our Penshurst project, the client wanted to make sure the kitchen renovation complemented their period home. The brief included a Hamptons look, modern functionality and open plan living. Our tips? ... - If you're looking for a Hamptons feel, try whites and blues, in muted tones. - Add shaker style doors and timber accents. - To combine the old and new, throw in hints of older shapes such as the traditional style range hood. 08.01.2022 A little (very) obsessed with the marble backsplash in our Padstow Project. Want out tips for choosing the perfect backsplash? 1) Determine your budget... You can’t really go into this thinking it’s only going to be about $100, but you can determine how much you want to spend. This will help you focus your efforts as you look at the different backsplash options in stores. 2) Look on Houzz This is basically the best website ever when it comes to inspiration for renovations especially if you have no idea what you want. 3) Consider Other Elements Look around your kitchen and see what’s already in there. If you are planning on totally gutting everything, then this might not matter as much. But if you are only doing the backsplash, you want to make sure it looks great with your appliances, paint, cabinets, etc. 4) Go in store While you can absolutely buy your tile online (especially if you can find a good price), I highly recommend actually going in-store. 5) Get Samples Something may look great in the store, but you really need to see what it looks like under the lighting in your kitchen, how it pairs with your appliances, etc. It really does look different in the store! 6) Shop for the best price Once you know what you want, make sure you shop around for the best prices. Many places charge a lot for tiles that can easily be found elsewhere. See the Padstow project here - https://buff.ly/3acJt5B

07.01.2022 It's a case of now you see me, now you don't! As a utility room, the laundry is often overlooked when it comes to design, but with some clever thinking and smart space utilisation, your laundry can put the fun back in functional. Whether it’s in the kitchen, the bathroom or in any number of other spaces, you can have a fully functional laundry in your home without it needing to be on display.... In our Lilyfield project, we added all-white push-to-open cabinetry to ensure the small space was lightened and felt open. See full project here - https://buff.ly/2ZVdIuM

05.01.2022 What are your thoughts on these snaps from some of our favourite bathroom renovations? As you consider the layout of your bathroom, take advantage of every square inch. Tabulate configurations for plumbing fixtures and cabinets. Be sure the tub you choose is the right size for the space a common mistake. Remember, when planning a space, it’s all about you. (Sounds nice, doesn’t it?) And, in the bathroom, design must result in a space that is safe and will grow with you.... Tip - Whether you’re gutting the space or refreshing it cosmetically, the location of an existing toilet can dictate the design. (You can move it, of course, but it will drive up the price of your renovation project.) Check out more of our projects here - https://buff.ly/35Bfxho

04.01.2022 Combining white and deep grey has always been a favourite of ours. Try matching your dark shade with other dark elements in your kitchen. Dark cabinets will look great with light walls and splashbacks, especially if you incorporate dark flooring to really enhance the colours of your kitchen. The lovely part about this Gladesville scheme was that the cabinets really brought our the character in the dark flooring. ... See full project here - https://buff.ly/33HMglX
