24.01.2022 To all Balwyn Tiger Members, Legends, Life Members, Supporters, Sponsors and Players - past & present. Firstly I hope you are all going ok and we obviously hope the covid 19 numbers will reduce significantly to begin to get us out of these lockdown restrictions. The EFL are preparing for next season 2021 and there will be a weighted draw in play, probably along the lines of a 4, 4 , 3 model based on 2019 club rankings on the ladder.... They are also working through a range of software programs to reduce operating costs and administrative pressures. Still big issues around Covid 19 compliance on match days, club revenue raising restrictions and contact tracing procedures. Pre season training if allowed looks like starting early February 2021. As you all know we have been fund raising for our digitalisation project and other costs incurred pre season and for 2021 pre season. The project is on track and Justin Cosgrove our Project Manager is working well with our project partners Punch Digital which is well into stage 2 of a 3 stage process. Can I say an enormous thank you to everyone who has contributed to the cause. The response has been fantastic from the width and breadth of our club faithful with the final number raised being $30,000. This allows the club to move forward and prepare for next season and ensure our project delivers all the platforms for the club that will be integral to the future of our sustainability, communication of every aspect of our clubs life and all our club aspires to be. My passion for community means ensuring the character of our area and way of life are protected. I will fight every day for you and your family as an experienced and disciplined leader. A resident of #Canterbury with my wife Kathy, we have lived in the City of Boroondara for 25 years. Together with our two children, we have established deep connections across our community. My professional experience has centred around establishing and operating my own Financial Services business for more than 20 years. During that time, I established strong relationships with many local businesses and residents. My wife Kathy has a well-known legal practice in #Deepdene. It has been my privilege to serve as President of the Balwyn Tigers Football Club since 2005. As a sports fan, I was part of a group that established the Melbourne Victory Football Club as a founding shareholder and director. I later served as Managing Director as well as Chair and member of the Club’s Finance Committee. As Club President, I was centrally involved in the $8 million #Balwyn Park masterplan, which was officially opened last year. That brought broader community engagement to the park, particularly U3A. During these unprecedented times the Balwyn Football Club have been working behind the scenes, undertaking the entire digitalization of the information technology platform for the Club. This will underpin all of our future communications, socialisation and data storage, to grow our club ensuring BFC is positioned for the growth and success which every stakeholder and supporters expect. After establishing a committee we have engaged PUNCH SPORTS GROUP to project lead this full technology advancement and Im proud to announce the appointment of Justin "Cossy" Cosgrove as the clubs digitilization technology manager at BFC to oversee and implement this very important project. 16.01.2022 Dear Life members, members, players, sponsors and supporters, Today both the EFNL and the NFNL have announced that season 2020 will not proceed due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the resultant restrictions related to the engagement of people at open venues, protocols surrounding facility management and the impost on volunteers being key reasons for the decision made today. Clearly this is a very disappointing outcome (albeit predictable) with the hopes of our club and all clubs... in playing this season. Local footy is fundamental to our community engagements, friendships and competition and we have all experienced the vacuum in our weekend activities by not being able to watch the mighty Tigers from under 19s to seniors. To our sponsors and business partners these times have been very difficult for many and our clubs support goes out to you and I would encourage everyone to seek out and utilise our business partners products and services. It helps their businesses and employs people. To our players and coaches having completed a pre-season obviously disappointing for all of you and in particular the under 19s and our new recruits to Balwyn. The important message at this time is really to stay healthy, exercise and hopefully remain employed or further your studies. Looking forward without a vaccine, next season will be different including pre season. I have no doubt the season will proceed and we can all look forward to Covid normal then. 10.01.2022 The Balwyn Football Club is shocked and deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of our former player, Jake Ryan. A true Tiger. We remember his amazing determination, passion, larrikinism and love of a laugh, along with a willingness to always to help others. His energy, gratitude and zest for life was contagious. We pass on our sincere sympathy to his family and all of his friends, of which he had so many. 03.01.2022 To all Balwyn Tiger members, supporters, sponsors & players past and present. I hope this message find you all virus free and coping with the lockdown. Recently I wrote to the Balwyn Tiger community and faithful with an update on the EFL and club matters.... This included the current challenges that the club and for that matter, all sporting clubs face due to COVID. I want to update you on the progress of our endeavours to date. To say that I and the committee are both excited and humbled by the support to date from people everywhere, including those interstate, and past & present players, is an understatement. To date we have raised over 11k in 2 weeks and we have now set a target for 25k by the end of September. The digitization project is progressing well under the guidance of Justin Cosgrove (Cossy) as our project manager. I will provide regular updates in respect to the project and the amount raised as we go.
