25.01.2022 NEIL DONALDSON XI MATCH ****UPDATE**** SATURDAY 27th FEBRUARY @ BALWYN PARK... With any announcement of the circuit breaker breaking unlikely before Wednesday, and with the blessing of Stuart Dono and Jen Rutherford, we have decided to move the Dono XI Match back another week. This has the following benefits: 1) It combines with another big day for the club with the Panthers 2010 Burt Shield Premiership Reunion; 2) It will lead into Drownlow Night and be possibly the biggest in history; and 3) It means the match will be against North Balwyn for added spice. Logistically, it gives sufficient time to get ready and adapt to any requirements. We can't wait for the day and to celebrate, as Jen said, "the life and times of the kindest and humblest and bravest person (we) have ever known. And as for combining the day with the Panthers Reunion, in the words of James Grady "Dono is still bringing blokes together". Lock it in and see you then. Cheers, Gav

21.01.2022 Help Required Wth two U/10 sides this year we urgently need someone to help out as Coach. If you are able to fill this role please let us know. ... Thanks, Gav

20.01.2022 Gday All, It has been said by others so I am summarising the collective thoughts of so many. Simply, an astonishing effort by Paul O'Connell to organise the practice match today and execute it so that everyone got the maximum out of it.... 35 guys showed up - tremendous in itself and reflective of the desire within the club. Every one of them got a decent hit, field and bowl. With Covid restrictions, this was no mean feat Okie also ensured that everyone was well versed in what the new requirements involve. A test run not just for the cricket but for how we all need to act. If he'd been running the show, Victoria would be at 8 months of zero cases, not 8 days. We are so fortunate to have the best coach in the comp who cares not just for advancing everyone's cricket abilities, but the care of all at the club as well. Go Saints! Gav

17.01.2022 Training Day! So good to be back and see everyone, and to welcome the new players to the club. The new nets are fantastic and with no footy played this year, the playing surface is like carpet.... Balwyn Park is a premier ground in a premier location. We have the best facilities in the region. Enjoy! Full training on Thursday, see you all (again) then Go Saints! Gav

17.01.2022 The 1sts are back in the finals hunt, the 2nds are on top and the 4s had a huge win with some massive contributions. The song was sung well

11.01.2022 Congratulations to 1st XI Captain Mick Haralambopoulos on his 250th Game this weekend. Hara might just be the most honest, hard-working, loyal and genuine person I have had the pleasure to know. He will go out of his way for everyone and if asked to do anything it is always "not a problem, mate". And a never-give-up competitiveness that is to be admired.... We all love you Hara! On behalf of everyone at the Balwyn Saints, and everyone you have played alongside (and probably against), all the best for the big game on Sunday. (Leave a message for him in the comments) Cheers, Gav

09.01.2022 Gday All, With the season underway we need to recognise all those who are and have been instrumental in the club running every week. With nearly 100 Juniors now at the club, from the Blast to U/16s, plus Seniors plus all the added planning required this season, it is a massive operation that rides on the back of the silent contributions of so many (including U/16s who are now coaching the younger junior sides) So please acknowledge the following for their extraordinary effort...s . Marlize Wessels - Single handedly running the Woolworths Blast and doing an amazing job U/10s: Coaches Ewoud Botha & Terry Green, with Training Coaches Tommy Toressi & Mick Harvey U/12s: Coaches Greg Cusack & Paul Stephens U/14s: Coaches James Grady & Owen Watts and Team Manager Jamie Craik U/16s: Coaches Shiv Shahaney &. Michael Steinshultz and Team Manager Anthony Gale And of course all the parents who help out each week with scoring, umpiring and general help. In addition to Seniors Coach Paul O'Connell and all the grade captains, each and every week Scott Longley (Balwyn Park) and Mick Barclay (Myrtle Park) have been there to make sure the days run in accordance with guidelines. They both travel some distance to do so and spend the day looking after the players. Though I have mentioned him above, a special thank you to Shiv Shahaney for his incredible work off-field this year - the mountain of compliance work we have had to endure has been a breeze because of all of his efforts. Of course, both Junior and Senior Committee members have been instrumental as always. Finally, to those I have forgotten to include...sorry in advance! Go Saints! Go Blasters! Gav

05.01.2022 Round 13 selections are now locked in. Looking at a hot one Saturday so stay hydrated, stay safe. Go to https://balwyncricket.com.au/saints-seni/match-information/

03.01.2022 Congratulations to the 1sts and 2nds on fantastic wins today. The 1sts were defending just 107 but an.incredible bowling and fielding team effort resulted in the best Balwyn Saints win. Dave Howsam was instrumental with bat and ball, stand-in captain Basil Letts led from the front and Wasim, Connor and the better Collopy bowled tight. But that man again - Mashall DJ Khaled - was the game changer. Two early wickets and a match-winning maiden in the second last over set it up.... And in the twos, congratulations to Trent Sanguinetti on his big century today. Sangas backed up his 60 last week with a controlled and dominating 112, leading his side to a comfortable win. Go Saints! Cheers, Gav

03.01.2022 Confirmation that the season is on target to start on Nov 14th for Seniors. Juniors has been pushed back a week to commence on Friday, 13th November. Given the year 2020 has been, what could possibly go wrong on Friday the 13th...... Get ready to pad up! Cheers, Gav

02.01.2022 Once again the Bendigo Community Bank has shown tremendous support to the Balwyn Saints and we thank them very much for their continued funding. Give them a call on 9836 8029 or pop into the Whitehorse Rd branch and ask not what you can do for your Community, ask what can your Community can do for you. Cheers,... Gav
