23.01.2022 Another beautiful day on the farm in regional Yea Victoria and you would never guess that Metro Melbourne is still under the strictest lockdowns sadly. We are all well at Balytyckle Miniature Galloways and hope you are well also. Life on the farm hasn't changed, cows are oblivious to the pandemic, bless them Our proposed field day which was postponed until November 8 is still going ahead at this stage, however, if we are unable (because of restrictions) to host 20 guests (u...nfortunately no children due to the limited numbers)plus our 2 guest speakers, ourselves and a helper we will need to cancel until the worst of the heat is over early next year. We can however still have small numbers of visitors to the farm and are happy to chat about a proposed visit with individuals. If you haven't emailed with your definite intentions regarding attending the field day I don't have you on my list, so shoot me a quick email if you are still intending to come should we . . . . fingers crossed . . . . be able to go ahead. 20.01.2022 Morning folks hope you are all well so yesterday was the last day of my pilot course in Agritourism and pleased to say I now have micro accreditation and am looking forward to the diploma course rolling out next year. The strategy behind the pilot course was to test the content and time frames on some human guinea pigs before announcing the diploma. Huge thanks to course developer Dr Mick Blake, our fabulous tutor Vanessa Kearney and Agri business Yarra Valley for their support and funding toward the course. The pilot itself has been a great source of information and valuable knowledge which we will certainly use in the development of our Farm-stay Agritourism business. A lot of work to pack in to 8 weeks but I thoroughly enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the diploma next year!

17.01.2022 Morning folks, hope you are all well I’m sure you are all aware of current restrictions in Victoria due to Covid. We have postponed our field day until Sunday November 8th in the hope that restrictions may have eased and that we can go ahead with our plans in a safe manner. Here on the farm it’s business as usual and we have started calving with 5 delightful babies bouncing around the paddocks and quite a few more expected over the next weeks. Looking forward to catching up with some of you in November I have quite a few of you down as definite’s for the day. She is an absolute delight and she and ‘Queenie’ have a special bond’Isla’ thinks that she is every bit a Galloway bless her

Haven’t had a halter on you since you were weaned at 7 months, 11 months later and you are the best!!!
10.01.2022 Big day today and very exciting!!! Some of you may know we have had a ‘tiny’ project on the go for almost a year now and given the COVID lockdown restrictions ...we’ve been taking our time with the completion of this project Well the finish line is soooo close and today the electrician is visiting to connect and finish the solar power to our ‘tiny’ eco friendly farm pod farm stay to say it’s been a labour of love would be an understatement! To the family and friends that have helped so far we say a big thank you and look forward to a little celebration sometime soon on the big deck of this ‘tiny’ farm stay. 06.01.2022 Hope everyone is well out their especially those in VictoriaI’m guessing many are feeling a bit like ‘Alice’ having gone down the rabbit hole atm Hectic week here on the farm The race is on now to get final assessments in for the last week of the Agri-tourism pilot course I’ve been doing, 8 assessments in 8 weeks! It’s been fun surprisingly and so much information!! Some new babies the past two weeks also!!! Sweet tiny Rosette to Tumblegum Rose and Balytyckle Norton bit of a shaky start, so tiny and a week early but kicking goals now and can’t get near the cheeky little monkey!!!Then Yesterday Tumblegum Ella Rose and Balytyckle Norton gave us exactly what we ordered . . . A beautiful dun heifer!!!! Hasn’t stopped bouncing and running since she made her debut, giving her mum grief already!
05.01.2022 Two more beautiful calves to report this morning Irrabina Amber had the sweetest little black bull calf late afternoon yesterday. Bouncing around like a grasshopper the moment it arrived and straight to the milk bar!!! Then early this morning Gleneagles Liberty who has previously given us a heifer and bull calf both Red presented us with this special package . . . A white with red point heifer Another good day on the farm
