23.01.2022 At Bambini ECD Sunshine Beach we believe in celebrating multiculturalism as a way to encourage children to respect and learn about the world. This week we celebrated Bastille Day through French songs, books, craft and delicious crêpes making. Thank you to everyone who participated and wore their best French outfits .

22.01.2022 Our Kindergarten children are happy to be back at bush kindergarten on Thursdays. Thank you Sunshine Beach State School for sharing your beautiful gardens with us. After exploring the gardens, the bush and the native bee hives, play emerged from all that nature has to offer. The children collaborated to build a pretend "campfire"- we explored a range of concepts. Making a tee-pee shape out of all different weights and size sticks- to allow for oxygen to keep a fire burning. ...We worked together with a shared vision. Some children role played, cooking marshmallows- drawing from their existing knowledge and experiences around campfires. We are looking forward to our next bush kindergarten experience this afternoon

21.01.2022 It’s been another busy week with so many positive things happening but the support of our local community has been just one more bonus. Helen and our Kindy children received a huge bounty of the most devine fabric from the team at Splash Events. It became the most joyous experience for our Kindy children.

20.01.2022 This week I watched children using art as a way to explore their identity. It started with one child wanting to paint his friend's face through the transparent easel. It triggered a beautiful conversation about different bodies and faces and how each of us is unique in its own way. #lifelonglearning #WeAreOne

13.01.2022 Language & Literacy in the Early Years The goal is for kindergarten children to use language and explore literacy in personally meaningful ways. By the en...d of kindergarten this ‘may’ include: - Understanding the purpose of texts - Making connections between texts and personal experiences - Identifying the relationship between sound and letters - Inventing simple rhymes and finger plays - Linking words and pictures in a story - Copying and attempting to write words - Sharing their writing to convey a message (QKLG) Here’s a few activities that will NOT achieve these goals and often hold no meaning for children: singing the alphabet memorising the alphabet tracing letters or words literacy worksheets asking a child to write their name repeatedly First let’s explore what personal meaningful means. Language and literacy will look different in everyone’s home. Consider: 1. Does your child speak English as a first language? 2. Does your child have a language delay or hearing impairment? 3. Does your child or a family member use sign language? 4. Is English the only language used in your home? Here’s a few ideas that can make learning language and literacy personally meaningful: Read, read and read to your child- don’t be afraid of big books or vocabulary Talk about books! Predict the endings, change the story line, guess what the page says based on the pictures Talk about text and reading. We start from left to right, bottom to top. There’s a front cover. There’s page numbers. Sing, sing and sing! There’s songs about tidying up, building blocks, animals- don’t be afraid to make up your own Talk to your child about symbols in the environment- stop signs, toilet signs, koala crossings etc Involve your child in reading menus when at cafes, or talk about the pictures on menus Make grocery lists together, first by using images and then later words next to images Make Birthday cards for friends Draw and paint with no outcome rather then to get the fingers and hands moving Engage in role play and encourage two way conversation. Question, respond. Give directions, start with 1 direction and work upwards. Example- put your drink bottle away, go to the toilet and then come and sit on the mat (3 parts) Lastly play, play, play - don’t undervalue the power of play

Our centre is proud to operate under the same mantra, with childrens' wellbeing and safety always being priority. https://www.napcan.org.au/ Play Your Part

06.01.2022 Quality interactions happen during everyday incidental activities that are rich in meaning. Laura is one of Daisy’s most important people. Daisy’s attachment to Laura is so strong and it is obvious when you see her face light up. Strong attachments allow us to feel secure and understood and this is how we know Daisy feels with Laura.

02.01.2022 Lately, we have been blessed with an important donation of various pieces of fabric. Educators created swings for children to enjoy. It's a fantastic way for children to engage with their vestibular sensory system, therefore, work on their balance and movement control. This set up also allows children to retreat and seek peace in their own silky cocoon.
