Covering the basics such as workshop safety, tool selection and forging techniques; we aim to create simple, practical projects which participants are invited to take home. We also provide morning tea and lunch. Please contact us to register your interest. 17.01.2022 These Viking inspired hatchets didn't have a chance to find homes today due to a cancelled market. If you have a space to adopt one just let me know #blacksmithing #handmade #hatchet

17.01.2022 One of the most interesting parts of making tools and blades from recycled steel, is finding out how a new steel (in this case a freshly butchered vintage saw blade) reacts in heat treatment. It can take experiment after experiment to get the right hardness, toughness, and consistency in the granular structure of the steel.

16.01.2022 What do we do when the workshop is just too damn cold for finishing work?

14.01.2022 Our new range of recycled spring steel craft scalpels are now available. These razor sharp blades are based on a Japanese Kiridashi and are available in right or left hand models.

12.01.2022 There we go, all done now I can hold onto the steel, I'm ready to bang out some more knives P.S. The video was made for my local blacksmiths crew, not too many others need make a pair

10.01.2022 Well, crazy days. Many blessings to you, may you and your families stay protected and well. In these times I'm finding myself mighty glad the workshop is at home. We are still here, plodding away, keeping busy, keeping sane. It's been a great quiet time to once again explore new skills and address my tools to be ready for when this all blows over, or doesn't.... So if you find yourself in need of a special tool to take care of your newly planted gardens, are packing your bug out bag, or simply feel like a bit of primitive technology by your side is a good move. From flint strikers and kitchen utensils to hatchets and knives, your friendly local blacksmith can help you out and provide you with a tool that will last for generations.

10.01.2022 Time for a tools day Bit of an experiment; self adjusting bolt tongs for round & square stock. I'm curious to see how they end up and how much I'll need to update my design on the next pair

09.01.2022 Fresh off the bench. My first exploration into the world of subtleties that is creating quality kitchen knives.

08.01.2022 I'd like to say a big thankyou to everyone who came to say hi at the Nimbin Markets today. It's so rewarding to have such great feedback on my work, and despite the rain I had a fantastic day meeting wonderful people and so many ardent supporters of handmade crafts, including my fellow stallholders. I look forward to seeing you at the next markets, in the meantime it's back to the workshop for me... #handmade #handforged #knives #tools #bambootools #blacksmithsarm #nimbinmarkets
