22.01.2022 Common questions: What can I do to get my bamboo established and growing fast? A few easy steps to get your bamboo established quickly are: 1. Dig deep. Dig a good hole to loosen the soil for room for the roots to grow and become well established. 2. Fill it up with lots of organic matter! Plus it is always a good idea to replenish the organic matter at the start of every growing season or even more often. ... 3. Mulch. Mulching improves moisture and nutrients retention, suppresses weeds and encourages microbiological activity. 4. WATER! Watering regularly is vital for a healthy plant. Why is my bamboo dropping its leaves? A stressed plant will drop leaves or leaves will start curling up especially in this hot weather we are having at the moment. This usually means a lack of water or another problem can be lack of essential nutrients in the soil. So is it an easy fix. Just mulch, water everyday (until healthy and happy again) and fertilize with a fertiliser, organic is best. The good news is if you just planted a bamboo and it has gotten stressed, even if it has lost all its leaves have fallen, keep up the water and give it some fertiliser and it will bounce back. Bamboo can naturally drop some leaves at certain times of the year (which is great for mulching your garden to keep moisture in your soil and have happy plants) but if it is stressed it will drop a lot so just remember to water and fertilise then problem solved. Does bamboo grow in clay? Yes bamboo will, some varieties will do really well. However an easy way to improve clay soil first is by mixing gypsum and organic matter into your soil. Hope you are having a GREAT week and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Geoff on 0408301608

12.01.2022 Gotta LOVE bamboo
11.01.2022 Fantastic place to stay at the Sunshine Coast and see how beautiful bamboo can be to create your own piece of paradise or like wise you can stop in at Heritage Nursery and Landscaping to see how Geoff has planted bamboo to make a tropical paradise.
10.01.2022 There are so many reasons why we love BAMBOO and specialize in clumping, non-invasive bamboos. Bamboo makes the perfect fast growing privacy screen, hedge and ...noise or dust barrier. It is gorgeous as a solitary feature piece or breathtaking in combinations to make a tropic paradice. There are so many different species with beautiful characteristics from decorative culms ( stems / canes) and an amazing array of colours. Some are striped and others have raised nodes. Then to top it off because it is a type of grass it is one of the FASTEST growing plants on the Earth. (But don't worry we only sell the clumping varieties.) So it is a great hedge or feature plant, evergreen and most species are frost-resistant and pests & diseases resistant. So for ideas or inspiration and advice we would love you to visit Heritage Nursery and Landscaping, 275 Greenhalgh Rd, Bells Bridge, Gympie. Ring or text Geoff to make a time that suits you to walk around on 0408301608. See the different types of bamboo we have. Talk to Geoff and see what types would be best for your situation. A feature plant, fast growing hedge, a windbreak, privacy screen, noise or dust barrier the possibilities are endless. More information I enjoyed reading on bamboo from other sites: "Did you know that #Bamboo produces the MOST OXYGEN of all the plants! And it CONSUMES MORE CARBON DIOXIDE than any other plant? You can eat the shoots, and yes #bamboo makes some interesting decorative, functional art works. #Bamboo was the first PLANT LIFE to return after the atomic bombings in Japan." https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=355323781303098&id=228798890622255 "Helps Reverse Global Warming: Incredible and true, bamboo produces the MOST OXYGEN of all the plants! And it CONSUMES MORE CARBON DIOXIDE than any other plant! Fastest Growing Plant on the Planet: New shoots of some tropical species have been clocked growing up to 4 FEET PER DAY in their shooting season! Environmental Cleanup: Bamboo plants are very effective at removing metals and other toxic substances from soils and water." http://bamboosourcery.com/p/fascinating-facts-about-bamboo/ "When we each do a little, together we can create a lot of good. Believe it or not, Bamboo grass produces the most oxygen and consumes the most carbon dioxide of any plant on the planet." https://www.bambooo.com
09.01.2022 Bamboo makes a stunning feature plant in your garden or can be a fast growing hedge that hides the neighbours or a shed, a windbreak, a beautiful privacy screen, noise or dust barrier just to name a few. BAMBOO is not only beautiful, fast-growing, versatile & diverse, it can be used in so many different ways for building materials, furniture, clothing, food, paper, bio-mass and more! Did you know the many other great benefits of BAMBOO: FAST-GROWING Bamboo is a form of grass... so naturally it grows FAST like a grass! Once established bamboo can grow to its full height and diameter in a matter of months and be ready to harvest for structural use in 3 to 4 years. When shooting, bamboo grows 3-4 feet per day. STRONG Bamboo is a strong and yet flexible building material. It has the same tensile strength as mild steel and bamboo homes can be engineered to withstand hurricane force winds. In 1995, ‘Bamboo Living’ homes stood strong when a hurricane hit the Cook Islands with 173 mph winds. SOLUTION TO DEFORESTATION Bamboo efficiently produces more usable timber/acre/year than trees. How? The root system of a tree dies after harvesting and each new tree seedling must grow a new root system. However, the GREAT NEWS about harvesting bamboo culms is that the root system does not die, instead it feeds new shoots and the cycle continues. SEQUESTERS CARBON When sustainably harvested bamboo is transformed into long lasting durables (like houses or properly treated building materials), the embodied CO2 is stored for 150 years, thus creating an effective carbon capture and storage system. According to preliminary studies, each Bamboo Living 1000 sq ft house embodies 28 tons of CO2. We can deliver large orders of bamboo to Melbourne and Sydney. We sell bamboo all around Australia. If you are driving down the Bruce highway, come and walk around our nursery. North of Gympie just off the Bruce Hwy turn right on to Greenhalgh Rd and follow for 2.5km’s Heritage Nursery and Landscaping 275 Greenhalgh Rd, Bells Bridge, Gympie See the different types of bamboo we have. Talk to Geoff and see what types would be best for your situation. A feature plant, fast growing hedge, a windbreak, privacy screen, noise or dust barrier the possibilities are endless. Maybe you are wanting to make a difference in global warming. Well, Time Magazine and Newsweek have said that planting bamboo is one of the top things we can do to help fight global warming. Hope you are having a GREAT week and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask Geoff on 0408301608.
