10.01.2022 The arts studio Cave Urban who specialise in bamboo structures and sculptures will be creating this giant whale sculpture on the foreshore in Hervey Bay later this month. They are looking for volunteers to help harvest the bamboo (a lot of which will be harvested from Bamboo Land Nursery and Parklands) and to build the sculpture. Cave Urban are professional bamboo craftspeople, so Im sure there is much to be learnt by being involved.

06.01.2022 World Whale Conference 2019 This week, all eyes from the cetacean (whales, dolphins and porpoises) scientific community are on Hervey Bay, who was selected to... host this year's event. To celebrate this incredible honor, Fraser Coast Tourism and Events and the Fraser Coast Regional Council commissioned Sydney-based artists, Cave Urban to construct Community Arts Project, 'Bliss'. This incredible piece of art was created from sustainably-harvested bamboo, kindly donated from the local Fraser Coast community and Bamboo Land - Nursery & Parklands. The piece took a week to build and tonight, 'Bliss' was officially unveiled in front of delegates, special guests and the local community. Thank you to all who came to witness this historic event. 'Bliss' will remain on the Scarness Foreshore for wh-elfies until the end of the World Whale Conference.
