04.01.2022 I recently read a fascinating book by Malcolm Gladwell called The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make A Big Difference. In it he talks about "the law of the few" this is also known as the Pareto Principle or the 80/20 principle. Put simply, this law states that roughly 80% of the results/effects in something can be attributed to 20% of the effort/input. e.g. the lead melody in a song might make up 20% of the total arrangement but take it away and it removed 80% of the impact that the song once had. So I decided to write a blog about this phenomenon in songwriting and to be more aware of it's affect and effects on songwriting. Hope you find it interesting and maybe even helpful.
