20.01.2022 Capturing Light and a Moment in Time Auda and Cathys pastel works have many commonalties with the French Impressionist movement. Impressionists painted plein air outside, directly within the landscape, working quickly to capturing scenes with bold brush strokes. As a result their paintings were an impression of a moment in time, rather than a finely detailed rendition. The Impressionists were interested in the study of light and colour, as are Auda and Cathy.... View the Homeland exhibition online: www.banana.qld.gov.au/artgallery

18.01.2022 Try to forget what objects you have before you - a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, Here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow, and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact colour and shape, until it gives you your own impression of the scene before you.
