23.01.2022 One of the greatest privileges in life: sharing the trust of a wild native animal....in Ironbank Community

22.01.2022 Today we discovered some sassy antechinus...and fluffy bush rats. This was our last little antechinus girl for the day. So glad our bush rats are still doing their thing in our Adelaide Hills biodiversity hotspot!

21.01.2022 finally facebook launched! ...Only THANKS to inspiration of Nat & Math, know-how of my gorgeous girls in Brissy, & energising by everyone who's walked the trap with us - thanks to all! Now just need some fab photos ;-) Summer 2011 team's on trapping break & I'm in sleepy Pt Vincent where sun is shining - but not internet. dodgy connection so love it if you have some photos to kick off ...

18.01.2022 We're super excited to be heading off to check traps for the first time for this year! It always feels like Christmas morning - what will we find ??

16.01.2022 Today's treasure was this teeny female antechinus- Yellow-footed Antechinus (Antechinus flavipes). Those eyes!

12.01.2022 Our first morning out checking traps - 1 bandicoot (Eve), 3 antechinus (Olive et al), and 10+ bush rats. Such a super cute start!

08.01.2022 Cafe Mealworm has opened! We are putting out 150 mealworms per site twice a day....so going to be some fat little bandicoots waddling around out there with very big grins. Put them out in Scott Creek 'sparse' this morning, and 2 hrs later the trays in blackberry had been ripped apart and all mealworms devoured. Just 5m from blackberry - not a sckerick of sand or mealworm touched...

08.01.2022 Last week of trapping! Get to share it with Hayley and the amazing Apu ;-) Wilson's Bog, MOD the house with crazy geese, and our favourite Mud Hut.

07.01.2022 We found our first possum! Female brush-tail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) with a very clean pouch, and a whole lot of antechinus with pouches starting to form (and a few big boys too)! Hoping to share photos of antechinus joeys before we finish our Autumn surveys - fingers crossed!

07.01.2022 How are you celebrating National Science Week! Here's how we are. iBandi is a brand new citizen science project to find, share, and prioritise suitable habitat to protect endangered southern brown bandicoots.... This project received grant funding from the Australian Government’s Communities Environment Program. And National Science Week 2020 thanks to Inspiring Australia and Inspiring SA.... . #nationalscienceweek #inspiringaustralia #bandicoot #citizenscience #endangered See more

06.01.2022 Warrawong Bandi's...helping out Conservation Ark, Zoos SA, with a species & population census at Warrawong. Lots of fun with Rufous bettongs, potoroos, ringtail possum, bush rats, & southern brown bandicoots. Oh, and Ori got to release his 1st bouncy bettong!

06.01.2022 Our Bandicoot Team is super excited to be back in the blackberry again for bandicoots! We're setting up traps for mark-recapture surveys of small mammals throughout the Adelaide Hills. Inspired by Hayley Jose's research on bandicoots as ecosystem engineers....watch this space for cute & cuddlies coming soon!

05.01.2022 Hmmm glad we weren't out there today! Wild & woolly in the hills - bring back our gorgeous golden Autumn days ;-D Apu & I would love an extra pair of hands out there when the weather is good - so if you know anyone who's free weekday(s) & would enjoy habitat surveys and feeding a mealworm cafe to bandicoots...please pass this invite on!

03.01.2022 At first we wondered. But as of today we're starting to get a bit worried. Cute antechinus and bush rats, but where are all the bandicoots??

03.01.2022 Our highlight for today was sharing morning tea with Friends of Scott Creek Conservation Park, including one of Australia's living legends, John Wamsley. Time sitting and listening and loving the wisdom of conservation elders. What's John's big question now....?

02.01.2022 It always feels a bit like Christmas morning when we check traps for the first time at a new or return site! This is Kaye's valley, a beautiful Mount Lofty swamp with gentle creekline, cup gums...and this cute little native bushrat (Rattus fuscipes). Photos for Kaye

02.01.2022 This little guy wasn't in a hurry to leave his cosy bag! . . #smallmammal #wildlife #wild #cosy #sunbathing #cute
