24.01.2022 We are relying on your support more than ever. Donate today to help keep our songline strong. Like so many others, Bangarra faces great challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. We stand strong. Donate before 30 June to help us weather this pandemic and return to the stage and our communities. Every donation no matter how big or small makes a difference. Thank you. 'Terrain' transports us to Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre in South Australia, the place of Australia's inland sea: one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world. It's back up and available to stream for free on Sydney Opera House 'From Our House to Yours' until 11 June.... 15.01.2022 Lately, it feels as if things are gradually returning to normal, as workplaces, cafés, and even some small venues reopen across the country. While it’s reassuring to see restrictions easing, it’s clear that given guidelines around mass gatherings, it will be a while yet until we’re able to share our stories with you onstage. The safety of our audiences, artists, and communities is our highest priority and in light of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have postponed our Australian Tou...r of SandSong until 2021. This new work was set to tour Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Bendigo in June - September this year; for now, this work will continue to develop in the minds of our dancers and creative team until we are able to bring this work to the stage. The impact of COVID-19 is far-reaching and our arts community is greatly challenged at this time. If you would like to support us, donate today to empower us in the coming months as we prepare for a time when we can come together again in theatres. We thank you so much for your support and for your understanding in these unprecedented times. We look forward to seeing you all in theatres as soon as it is safe to do so. 12.01.2022 Vale Jan Pinkerton Jan Pinkerton came to Bangarra in 1995 with the open heart of a true artist. Gifted with flawless technique, Jan took our breath away with her effortless dancing, but we quietly wondered how this very talented, but skinny white girl, would go with telling the stories from the oldest culture on earth. Grounded by humility and the privilege of being one of very few non-Indigenous artists gifted this opportunity, Jan’s generosity of spirit, easy nature, integr...ity, incredible work ethic and stage presence inspired many Bangarra dancers. She was and always will be our Sister and we will miss her greatly. Photographer unknown.

10.01.2022 As we watch our brothers and sisters stand alongside their communities in solidarity for the most recent US black death in custody, we also acknowledge the national shame for our own history of black deaths in custody, and the pursuit of justice for the families and communities affected. The silent suffering can continue no longer and to move forward, we need to acknowledge this stain and look within our own country to better the treatment of its Indigenous people. 03.01.2022 Today marks 28 years since the Mabo decision, an extremely important day, not only for the Meriam people and other Torres Strait Islanders; but also for our brothers and sisters on the mainland. Uncle Koiki Mabo proved that we as people have always had connection to our own lore and traditional ownership of our land. Our land and our waters have always belonged and will always belong to us. Our stories, songs and dances shape our lands and us as people.... We acknowledge the strength and resilience of Uncle Koiki and the Meriam people in their fight to overturn the fiction of terra nullius.
