25.01.2022 Bangarra's new season of earth & sky sees the return of renowned choreographer Frances Rings with Artefact and the debut work Riley by Daniel Riley McKinley. Riley is inspired by the cloud series of photographs by the late Michael Riley who is an acclaimed contemporary visual artist. Artefact explores the spirit and significance of objects in Aboriginal culture and the symbolism of their use in contemporary life.... (Wallpaper size)

01.01.2022 Catherine Baldwin was appointed last month as Bangarra Dance Theatre’s new Executive Director. Catherine has had a long association with Bangarra having first worked with Artistic Director Stephen Page in her role as Executive Director of the Australian Dance Council (NSW) nearly 20 years ago. She is a respected social and commercial practitioner with more than 20 years’ experience in social sector leadership roles. Catherine’s career combines broad experience in the manageme...nt of cultural organisations, the development of new business and social enterprises, as a program director for the Australia Council, and most recently, in philanthropy as Head of the Perpetual Foundation. Catherine was the Chief Executive of a professional association, the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, and the independent national think tank, the Committee for Economic Development Australia. Some years ago, Catherine ran her own high profile arts management consultancy, Catherine Beall Management, in which she was the business manager, producer and public relations consultant for 10 leading artists. Catherine is a director of Outcomes Australia, Chairman of the national peak body, Young People and the Arts Australia, and the inaugural Chairman of the Transfield Foundation. Bangarra’s Chair, Aden Ridgeway said, Understandably, we are really thrilled to have Catherine on board in this, our 21st year, and have full confidence in her ability to lead the company to even greater success.
