23.01.2022 THE JOHNNY CASH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL LOCATION: STANTHORPE 11 NOV 2017 TO 11 NOV 2017 This event celebrates the fact that Johnny Cash and wife June Carter visited Stanthorpe regularly during the 1980s and 1990s. But not for music!... They came to visit an American friend of Johnny’s, who had moved to Australia for family reasons related to his Australian wife. Johnny and June grew to love this small country town, its people and the district, hence their regular visits. The Festival, to be staged on November 11, will feature one of Australia’s leading Johnny Cash Tribute bands, supported by a line-up of three widely renowned Country and Rockabilly bands. The Stanthorpe Showground venue is long experienced in major events, including the world famous Stanthorpe Apple and Grape Festival. Pre-concert activities will be held in the town centre, and include a Best Dressed Man In Black competition, theme-related music, parades and much else in a family oriented day out. The Festival’s long-term objective is to become annual, doing for Stanthorpe what the Elvis Presley Festival has achieved for the small New South Wales town of Parkes, contributing hugely to the local economy. They are confident they will achieve their objective as Johnny Cash remains massively popular to this day. Visit their website for full details. LOCATION: High Street, Stanthorpe 4380, QLD

18.01.2022 Spring Temp 8 to 22 degrees Spring, or the Italian translation, Primavera, as the Granite Belt locals call it, is a beautiful time to visit the region as the area is in bloom with rare wildflowers, days are sunny and nights are perfectly cool. Apart from the visual feast of apple blossoms in the orchards, many new wine releases are celebrated with events across the region. The cooler temperatures also make exploring the National Parks even more enjoyable. The Small Wine Week ...is a week long event was originally established in 1987 by the wine sub-committee of the Stanthorpe Agricultural Society and has grown to be the most prestigious wine show for small winemakers in Australia and New Zealand and one of the fastest growing shows on the annual wine circuit. A public tasting event will be held on Saturday 28 October from 2pm-6pm. Improve your knowledge and try some of the newest wine styles plus have a few of your old favourites along the way. What a great opportunity to taste award winning wines from the many regions of Australia and New Zealand all without leaving sunny Queensland. See more
