22.01.2022 Last week we took every opportunity we could to get out and explore in the outdoor environments. By exploring within our outdoor environments we begin to see relationships develop, creative ideas grow and curiosity build behind every new idea.
21.01.2022 As the year comes to a close we wanted to take some time to celebrate some very amazing little people who are moving off to full time school or Kindy next year. We invited our families to come and join in a celebration of their children whom we have had the pleasure of watching grow, learn and flourish in our Care for Kids Community. It was beautiful awarding the children with their diplomas and dancing the night away with a mini disco and some delicious snacks. Thank you to everyone involved in making this a night to remember!
21.01.2022 As a continuation of the children's interest within the toddler room, today they were joined by one of the nursery children for a bath! The excitement and wonderment from the photos is an exact replication of the moment they shared together.
21.01.2022 Today we had a wonderful opportunity to create a community link with our Kingsley center. The children were so excited to be able to meet some new friends and experience what the children do at other centers. As educators it was beautiful to stand back and watch the children be able to confidently approach a new environment and engage in learning with children that they have never met. This shows their ability to connect and contribute to the wider community, and builds those foundations for strong, meaningful relationships. We will be continuing to visit other Care for Kids services in the future.
20.01.2022 We are getting very excited about our Community and Family Day Event this coming Saturday from 10am to 12pm! We have some fabulous raffle items up for grabs for a small gold coin donation to donate towards our ongoing commitment to support the Wanneroo Urban Pantry - including automotive vouchers, pet products and assorted hampers donated from within our lovely community!
20.01.2022 Taking a moment on Friday night to stop and reflect on our gradates journeys with us at Care for Kids School of Early Learning Banksia Grove. It was a wonderful night to be a part of, with them all dressed in their graduation gowns with their big smiles. We wish each of them good luck on their new adventures at big school.

17.01.2022 Last night a couple of our staff attended a Signing Hands Personal Development Course. Signing Hands teaches parents, carers and educators how to introduce Australian Sign Language to children aged from 6 months to 5 years. This is especially helpful for babies who are not yet verbal, but also for children with language delays. Debbie Bundock designed the course and was previously a Primary School teacher. It was an absolutely fabulous course and Debbies presentation was r...emarkable! If anyone would like any further information please let us know. We have also added some brochures to our Parent Library. Ive attached a video of Debbie signing and singing "Wandjoo", an Indigenous Acknowledgement to Country Song and included a photo of the lyrics just as a snapshot of our night.

15.01.2022 Last week on Friday our children enjoyed some quality time with their loved ones at our Grandparents Afternoon Tea.
14.01.2022 This week was "National Child Protection Week". Each of the rooms were given a blank piece of calico at the start of the week, whereby they were invited to show how we, as educators, peers and in our little community, ensure that we create a safe and nurturing environment for all children in our care. The need to put children first has been recognised time and time again as an important pillar for boosting the well-being of all children in Australia. Please see each rooms creative interpretation of this on display in the foyer for you to admire.
13.01.2022 During this mornings discussion with the Preschool Seniors the children decided they wanted to make playdough creations. The children took the lead in collecting items from around the service that they could incorporate in their creations. Together they sat and explored their collections before getting to work.
13.01.2022 Last week we held a Parent information night and invited Kyla from Mealtime Building Blocks. Kyla had some amazing insight and advice for the parents and staff that attended. Her information was simple to follow and she was able to answer all of our questions about some of the fussy eating habits that our children show at different stages of their lives. Thank you to those that attended.... We will be sending an email full of the information to all of our families.
12.01.2022 Our recent light discoveries in the Nursery
12.01.2022 To support our children who are transitioning to kindy next year we went to a local primary school today to meet one of the kindy teachers, had a play within the environments and enjoyed our crunch and sip. Supporting these children with this transition ensures the go into school next year with a great confidence.
12.01.2022 Today we had a very special story time sent in from a grandparent who is unable to attend our grandparents afternoon tea as he lives in New Zealand. He read the children his favourite story. The children loved listening to his story and looking at the animals in the book.

09.01.2022 Today was our chance to give back to our community by donating all of the wonderful items we have collected over the past week. The food drive for the Wanneroo Urban Pantry began last week and we were overwhelmed with the support from the children and their families! This opportunity opened up many conversations with the children about those who may need to access this and how we can do our little bit to help. We all got to meet the founders Tim and Chloe who are a local fami...ly who saw the need within our local community to open up the Urban Pantry where families can give what they can, and take what they need. This was such a beautiful morning watching the children make connections within the broader community. We would like to Thank our families and the greater community for coming together and donating a massive supply of items that will help families in need. See more

06.01.2022 Curious minds lead to great discoveries
06.01.2022 This weekend our staff undertook a full day of First Aid Training through St Johns at the center. This course provides the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response, including CPR, anaphylaxis and asthma training (to name a few) to infants, children and adults and specifically applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting. We renew our full first aid every two years and have CPR refreshers once yearly.
05.01.2022 What a fantastic community open day we had on Saturday! We would like to thank all of our families and community members who came down to support our service. We cant wait to meet the new families who came down to have a look at the environments and meet the educators who have been providing high quality care for many families over the past 6 years.... A special thank you to the extended Care for Kids teams who came from other services and management that helped out on the day. We are so lucky to have such a great, strong Care for Kids family. With donations from our raffle and the sausage sizzle, we are proud to have raised $200 to put toward supplies for our ongoing support towards the Urban pantry in Wanneroo.
05.01.2022 Our Nursery babies have been extending their interest in sensory play. This is a key age for exploration with all of their senses so our educators provide them with open ended activities that allow for free thinking and imagination.
05.01.2022 Our Tiny Tots children exploring with light, water and shadows.
05.01.2022 What better way to cool of than with a car wash supplied and constructed by one of the Toddler parents. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work alongside our families to help support and extend upon the childrens interests.

04.01.2022 The most memorable days often end with the mudiest clothes The children at Banksia Grove decided to explore the nature in our outdoor environment. They led this activity with excitement and determination, leaving no spot on their body without mud! Encouraging the children to use the environment as the third teacher builds strong connections that will last a lifetime.... It is these moments we step back as educators and watch the learning unfold. See more

03.01.2022 This morning some of our Preschool children had the opportunity to take part in a Hospital Incursion program which helped the children create an understanding of how real life medical equipment is used and what to expect in a hospital visit followed by role play activities and lots of fun!
03.01.2022 This week at Banksia Grove we have been incorporating National Nutrition Week into our curriculum. The children have had the chance to explore healthy foods and nutrition in many different ways. Allowing children to explore the idea of healthy eating has sparked their curious little minds.... Listening to the childrens thoughts and ideas whilst they are engaged in these activities gives the educators opportunities to extend upon childrens learning and plan future experiences.
03.01.2022 Our nursery educators spend quality time engaging with our babies to build beautiful relationships that support each of them on their learning journeys with us.
02.01.2022 We have been incredibly lucky to be able to have one of our parents Dayanari come into the service to prepare and cook a traditional Sri Lankan dish called milk rice. The children took turns washing the rice and chopping the spinach. We added that all together with some coconut milk and salt and cooked it in the rice cooker before turning on to a tray to cool and cut into a slice. This was a huge hit with all of the children, with many of them asking for more!... We value family input and would love to have any of our family members show off any talents they may have.
02.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, the Toddlers Room have been learning about healthy eating and have placed a large focus on growing their own vegetables and creating their own veggie garden. This has initiated the children developing dispositions for learning such as curiosity, commitment and experimentation, but has also helped them build on their responsibility and awareness of the world around them. One of the children went to a farm over the weekend and shared his experience with the rest of his peers. This then extended on their current interest of caring for the environment and initiated a conversation about the world around us.

The Tiny Tots are at an inquisitive age where perspective can define their individual experience. We spoke about colours, played peek-a-boo, explored the texture and investigated movement by placing the objects on the lazy susan.
