17.01.2022 REDEVELOPMENT NEWS #49 | DID YOU KNOW? To date, more than 87,000 work hours have been dedicated to building our new Emergency Department and refurbishing existing spaces, with over 9% of those hours completed by women in construction, just like Martyna, a traffic controller on site. At the height of construction works, her role was critical to ensuring that pedestrians and motorists were able to navigate the hospital site safely. This month, refurbishment works continue and the visitor access route to the new ED has changed. You might also experience noise and vibration when in the vicinity of the ED waiting room. Thank you for your ongoing patience while the project continues into the new year. #BankstownUpdate

12.01.2022 CARERS WEEK | "My name is Swati. I am a pharmacist at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. I care for my 30 year old daughter and 90 year old mother. I care to give both of them the best life as possible." This week is Carers Week and we are celebrating the valuable contribution unpaid carers make. The theme for this year is 'Tell us why you care', encouraging carers to share their story and for others to share why they appreciate carers.

11.01.2022 It's been a busy year for Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital but the staff have found ways to create wonderful memories. Staff got involved in the Jerusalema Challenge, which started in February as COVID-19 caused lockdowns in African countries. It was a way of remaining connected. Please note, this footage has been captured during times when staff were not required to wear face masks. Enjoy this Jerusalema Challenge compilation from Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital!

01.01.2022 SPIRITUAL CARE | Hello my name is John. As an Anglican priest for over 60s years, hospital pastoral care has often been part of my job (sometimes also teaching it). However it is only since volunteering at Bankstown from 1998 till now that sharing this form of spiritual care has become of first importance for me. I connect with people of all ages but especially enjoy visiting with the aged and isolated and those with mental health problems. I enjoy doing this in co-operation with team members and with our supportive staff.

01.01.2022 Happy Diwali! As the celebrations start don't forget to be COVID safe such as practise physical distancing, wash your hands and get tested even if you have the mildest symptoms.
