25.01.2022 This week at The Boomerangs! What a HUGE week this is at The Boomerangs, NATIONAL VOLUNTEERS WEEK. Hockey NSW has a very simple volunteer philosophy which we live by: APPRECIATE - MOTIVATE - EDUCATE ADVOCATE "We value the contribution that every single one of our volunteers makes to our sport. We say this a lot, but its true - hockey would not run without volunteers. THANK YOU!"... SHOOSH FOR KIDS Unnecessary noise from the sidelines or negative comments affect all players, all umpires, all coaches and all volunteers. All of our sideline behavior reflects on this club - so lets get behind this initiative and add to the enjoyment of this sport for our kids sake - and SHOOSH! LADIES DAY - YEH! Sunday May 26 all of our ML teams are playing at home, a family BBQ is being organised. Fashions on the Field - Best dressed, worst dressed, most outrageous (individual and team awards). Winners receive a free BBQ lunch, Runners up a free BBQ lunch, participation awards - yes a free BBQ lunch - Be in it to win it! ML6 have the TV match at 15:00 stay around and enjoy the action. Get OUT N BOUT and have a good Hockey! See more

24.01.2022 Starting today, we have a new sign-in procedure at Bankstown. For those who don't have a personal ID tag (with a QR code) issued to them, you will have to scan in when you enter. There are posters up at the entry points; scan the QR code and complete the online attendance register. It takes no more than about 30 seconds. It will then confirm that you have scanned in correctly and give you a link to log out when you leave. This will help us fulfill our COVID Safety requirements. The paper attendance register was almost impossible to read, so was almost useless. If you don't have a QR scanner on your phone, we recommend the Kaspersky QR Scanner. Kaspersky has one of the best anti-virus programs around, so is safe; it's FREE and it has NO ADDS or pop-ups. Keep safe as we head to a return to playing very soon.

24.01.2022 Sadly, we learned today of the passing of one of the Directors of the Bankstown District Sports Club. Alex was a great Director of the Sports Club and a good friend of our Hockey Club. He will be missed. Funeral details are in the Sports Club post for any who can attend.

23.01.2022 The Ladies have got the BBQ cranking!

23.01.2022 Our junior teams will play trial games against Moorebank tomorrow at Bankstown. Come along and support our juniors as they gear up for the start of the season next weekend. U15s at 9:00am; U13s at 10:10am and U17s at 11:20am. Good luck to all and remember to stay COVID Safe. Keep up all the personal hygiene protocols. #We dont want to end up like Victoria!

23.01.2022 More skills to practice at home. Thanks Amy Lawton. Keep staying safe and get ready to get back to playing Hockey soon.

22.01.2022 On the advice of Hockey NSW and our association - SEHA - we are cancelling all Hockey related activities. Training is cancelled until further notice and the start of all competitions is delayed, probably at least until 2nd May. Almost every other club is, or will be doing the same. We understand that this is very frustrating and ask for your patience in these very uncertain times. BSHC

21.01.2022 SHOOSH for Kids! Let the kids enjoy themselves - they play for fun and if they enjoy it, they will be a part of our club/community forever which is far more important than anything else.

19.01.2022 Eventually, we can get back to training. Our coaches will be in contact with teams to advise of training schedules etc. There are a number of important protocols which will need to be followed by everyone returning to Hockey. Full details can be found on our website. https://www.bankstownhockey.org.au//training-to-resume-at/

19.01.2022 Pre-season training gets underway next week. Tuesday (4th Feb) for the men and Thursday (6th Feb) for the women. Even though we still have no power (at this stage) after our little bushfire, training will begin at 7pm. Be there as early as you can to start on time.

19.01.2022 A very timely message from the CEO of Hockey NSW, as we start our various competitions. If we want to keep playing Hockey, please heed the message and keep doing EVERYTHING possible to not only stay safe yourself, but keep others safe also.

18.01.2022 Dont forget our Come & Try sessions starting tonight. We want all our existing U11s and U13s to come along and use this as pre-season training. The season starts in about 4 weeks, so brush off the cobwebs and get back into the swing of things.

17.01.2022 All of our competition organizers are committed to getting competition under way as soon as the current restrictions allow us to do so. One of the conditions that the government has set, before restrictions are eased, is that the majority of Australians should download and start using the COVIDSafe app. We would encourage all our members to do so, in order to speed up the possibility of getting back out onto the pitch. You can find out more about the app, and download it from here. https://www.health.gov.au/reso/apps-and-tools/covidsafe-app

17.01.2022 We need as much help as possible tomorrow at our Working Bee. There is much to do and plenty of little jobs that even the kids can get stuck into. Lots of tidying up and cleaning out to be done. Hope to see you there, even for a short time.

16.01.2022 Bankstown boys having fun representing SEHA under 15s - Good onya Fellas!

15.01.2022 Thank you SEHA Kathy and Deb for inspiring our budding umpires on Tuesday night.

15.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone. Stay safe. Maybe you could try doing some of these tricks, followed by eating all the eggs.

15.01.2022 We would like all our friends and members to come and lend a hand at our Working Bee this Saturday. There is much to be done. Free BBQ and drinks for those who come and help out. There are lots of easy jobs to be done, anyone is welcome.

14.01.2022 Welcome Jacob! Congratulations Darren and Bea

14.01.2022 We are providing feedback to the various competition committees, about the preferred options for competition for the remainder of this season. We have just sent out an email to all our members, with a link to a survey, which asks for their feedback on the 2 main options being considered. In order for us to reply with an informed decision about what YOU want, please take a minute to complete the very short survey (maximum of 3 questions). The survey also asks about your intention to register this year, if you havent already done so. If you answer that you do not intend to register, there are no more questions. Stay safe and stay in touch.

12.01.2022 GRAND FINAL SUNDAY! Junior Grand Finals are being held at Daceyville Sunday Sept 8. Get OUT N BOUT to support our U11s at 8:30am and U15s at 11:15am. Best of luck teams!

08.01.2022 Nice to see Hockey get some exposure on mainstream TV. Check out what Jodie Kenny has to say about staying connected during lockdown.

06.01.2022 Successfully trialled an electronic sign-in and out system today. Every registered player will be issued with a bar-coded tag and must be scanned in and out of the venue. Dont leave home without it. It will record your arrival and departure times (for COVID requirements) and save manually signing in and out.

06.01.2022 BSHC Presentations went ahead on Saturday, celebrating an eventful year for the Club. Juniors first followed by seniors. A great time was had by all (from all reports). These are just some of the many awards given out.

06.01.2022 If you are missing hockey and looking for some activities to fill the void while we are all self isolating, try perfecting these skills at home. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zi8lIzZLWt4 We are all hoping to get back into action as soon as its safe to do so, so be prepared, keep the skills and fitness levels up, so youre ready to get right back into it. Stay safe.

04.01.2022 CPR everyone should be aware of how to do this. Check out www.cprfriendly.org for 5 sec lessons to 3 hours. Doing something is better than not doing anything!... What you should to do: 1. Ring 000 immediately (on speaker phone) and they will tell you what to do next 2. Start CPR 30 compressions: 2 breaths 3. Get someone to find a Defibrillator (AED)-turn it on and follow the voice prompts 4. Continue CPR - recruit someone to assist 5. Follow instructions from the 000 operator until an ambulance arrives
