25.01.2022 Today is R U OK day!. Our team at Bankstown womens health centre would like to extend the "are you ok question"? to all our followers and anyone who comes across our post today and every day. If you feel as though you are not doing OK, BWHC has services to assist which includes counselling, case work and psychology. Any of our staff are also able to help by having a friendly conversation with you and directing you to networks which may be able to help as well. ... We encourage you to contact a friend a family member a organisation or your local GP if you ever feel you need assistance no matter how big or small you feel it may be! Also, we have pasted the link directly from the R U OK website with many organisations and their contact details to access help which you can contact immediately. https://www.ruok.org.au/findhelp

22.01.2022 Bankstown Women's Health Centre CEO Mariam Mourad is an amazing, tireless advocate for providing support to victims of domestic violence. The BWHC team are a beacon of hope for our community.

21.01.2022 BWHC is grateful for the hundreds of beautifully wrapped children’s gifts that we can hand out to families in our community. A community member who wishes to remain anonymous has purchased and wrapped over 11,000 children’s gifts throughout the year, some of the gifts for the Salvation Army for country NSW, and some for Bankstown Women’s health centre. We thank you for your kindness

20.01.2022 Today we launch the #tellablepeople social media campaign: https://tellablepeople.raisely.com For the #16DaysofActivism against gender-based violence we will be... sharing our skills and knowledge when it comes to responding with compassion and being a tellable person. Join us for the next 16 Days as we ask (and answer!) the questions - What is a tellable person? How do I respond if my friend is assaulted? What do I do if my sister is an unsafe relationship? and What can I do to prevent gendered violence? Get involved: Raise funds as individual, family or workplace and join us in the movement to end violence in Australia and ensure that people in our community who have experienced sexual, domestic or family violence receive the care and support they deserve. 03.01.2022 Today is the 3rd anniversary of the day Australia voted YES for marriage equality. We know that many of you will remember what it was like that morning waiting ...nervously, hopefully for the result. We wanted to reflect today on some of the other historic moments for LGBTIQ+ people in Australia. From the first Mardi Gras to rainbow families officially being recognised, there have been huge changes for LGBTIQ+ people. But there are still significant barriers along the road to equality, and they don't all fit into a video. We've got continue to the work to make sure that: - All LGBTIQ+ people are free from discrimination in schools, services, and workplaces - Trans and gender diverse people have the dignity of having ID documents that reflect who they are - Intersex people are able to make choices about their bodies and give informed consent for any medical interventions - So-called conversion therapy is a thing of the past And so much more! Together, we’re powerful. We can create a place where everyone is treated with dignity and respect no matter where they live, who they are, or whom they love. Join us for what’s next: https://bit.ly/EqualityAusSignUp
