20.01.2022 - : Since the Victorian Premier’s announcement of the ‘Roadmap’ last Sunday 6 September, Bowls Victoria and all other sports have been seeking clar...ity on what the planned Roadmap means for community sport. Through a range of meetings and conversations with Government this week, we are still yet to be informed of any further detail or potential for play. This has particular relevance for Regional Victoria who will reach Step 2 (or 3) before Metropolitan Melbourne. We will continue to liaise with Government about when we can return to play, and numbers of players permitted, etc. We understand they are under extreme pressure with all industries seeking advice, but we will keep you updated as soon as we know more. Keep well and stay safe. Look after your mates. Regards, Team BV

19.01.2022 We hope all our members across Regional and Metro Melbourne are keeping their chins up. It’s been great to see so many Regional clubs back up and running, in wh...atever capacity they’ve been able to manage. For our Metro clubs, we know it’s been a long, hard wait but we’re getting close now to being able to play bowls again. BV is working hard behind the scenes, with various scenarios, to have everything in place for a return to play in the very near future. So hang in there everyone. So now, who better to receive a message of support than from our own Barrie Lester. Hailing from Bendigo, ‘Snelly’ as he’s perhaps more commonly known, made his Aussie debut in 2006, and has since made almost 200 international appearances. Relocating from the mighty VIC up to QLD in 2019, he’s now the Bowls Coordinator at the picturesque Burleigh Heads Bowls Club (we’ll get you back one day Baz)! Lester won bronze at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne (pairs), and two silver at the 2018 Commonwealth games at the Gold Coast (triples & fours). With a huge haul of medal and titles, too long to list here, a highlight was being named Bowls Australia male bowler of the year in 2016 & 2017. Lester is a wonderful ambassador for our game and puts his heart and soul into the promotion of the sport and well as teaching using his BLEST philosophy of Bowls, Leadership, Excellence, Skills, Training. Thanks for your support Snelly. Stay safe. Look after your mates.

05.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: Bowls Victoria today participated in a number of meetings with various agencies and the State Government, which have resulted in confirmation o...f a number of changes to our previous advice. This advice is current as of today, 30th October 2020, and affects both Metro Melbourne and Regional Victoria. There are 3 key areas of change: Masks are now mandatory, and all conflicting information has been corrected. This is a Victorian Government directive. Further detail can be found in the Return to Play Guidelines below. We have received clarification that access clubhouses is permitted where there is a bar, café or restaurant. Clubs which only have a clubhouse, with no hospitality offering, are only permitted to open toilets and changerooms. & Groups of up to 10 people are permitted outdoors/on greens, but groups must now be 10m apart. This rule does not apply to pennant, pennant practice or other state events. Information on this change can be found in the sections titled Number of players and the Types of Competitions. We understand that the ongoing changes will be causing frustration, however be prepared that there will likely be more to come and quite likely prior to the next round of major changes due to be announced on the 8th of November. Revised Return to Play Guidelines can be found here: https://bit.ly/3jNEbRm Stay safe. Look after your mates.
