25.01.2022 Bannockburn CFA Bannockburn SES and the local Bannockburn Ambulance Victoria crews paying tribute to the fallen Police officers tonight. #CFA CFA (Country Fire Authority)

25.01.2022 Last year we ‘got to know’ some of the volunteers and we would like you all to get to know a few more. Billy Trezise joined the CFA purely to give back to the community, and to make lifelong friends. He participated in the Bannockburn CFA Juniors Program and then continued as an active fire fighter. Billy joined the CFA and Bannockburn Brigade over 7 years ago. He has been our Brigade Health and Safety officer and is currently a Lieutenant and the Brigade Training Officer.... Billy has also passed his accreditation as a Crew Leader. Billy is highly respected throughout the area for his ability as a fire fighter and as a leader and we congratulate him on his achievements. We asked Billy some questions: 1. What would you say to someone who wanted to join the CFA? Give it a crack! The experiences stay with you forever, and the friendships make it feel like a second family. 2. What do you enjoy most about the Bannockburn Brigade? The members are very welcoming, I’ve learnt so much from all the members and will be forever grateful. 3. Do you work? If yes, where? Yes, I’m currently a 2nd year apprentice Mechanic at Golden Plains Mechanical in Bannockburn. 4. What Hobbies do you have? When the weathers nice I enjoy going camping and jet-skiing, and of course CFA! 5. What is your favourite Animal? Dogs are my favourite. 6. What was your favourite subject in school? I enjoyed the woodwork subjects, also undertaking VET Automotive once a week. 7. What was your best experience in CFA? One that stands out the most was when I participated in the CFA Challenge Leadership camp in 2016. I got so much out of it, came back a better person, and made so many new friends. It’s one memory that will always stay with me.

22.01.2022 On Wednesday 29th April 2020 at 5:40pm Bannockburn brigade along with other Brigades across the State will be sounding their Brigade Station siren as a mark of respect to the four Victorian Police Officers who tragically lost their lives last week. There is no reason to be concerned or alarmed should you hear one or more Brigade sirens sounding tomorrow at 5:40pm.

20.01.2022 Can we fit in your driveway? Our tankers are pretty big machines. Check your driveway to see that we'll be able to fit if you need us.

20.01.2022 Just a reminder to be careful out in our area...

20.01.2022 Our Brigade mourns the tragic loss of four Victoria Police Officers today. Our thoughts are with their families and their work colleagues. Rest in peace.

17.01.2022 With winter upon us now it's important that everyone is responsible for their own home fire safety during the cooler months. Here's the preventative measures you can take to keep your household safe.

16.01.2022 A BIG thank you to our wonderful Bannockburn community for contributing to the 2020 Good Friday Appeal.

15.01.2022 Are you planning on doing a burn-off soon? If your planned burn-off is more than two hours away, you can register it at https://firepermits.vic.gov.au/notify R...egistering is important as it prevents an unnecessary fire services response. Fires reported to triple zero are cross-checked against registered burn-offs and, if your burn-off is not registered, the fire services may be notified. See more

13.01.2022 Today is an historic day for fire services in Victoria. Today we welcome Fire Rescue Victoria as our new fire and emergency service partner. And today, CFA beco...mes a proudly volunteer fire service. We are skilled, determined and here to serve Victorians now and into the future. We are from the community and for the community. We are CFA. #CFAVic #OurCommunityOurCFA

13.01.2022 SANTA Is coming to Bannockburn Following the formal approval from the CFA Chief Officer, CFA (Country Fire Authority) and the Victorian Government we have been given the green light to proceed with our Christmas Eve Santa Run. As in previous years, Santa will travel some of the streets of Bannockburn on our big red fire truck visiting children and families. ( we say some of the streets of Bannockburn, as it is growing and we are unable to get down every street ) ... As we're sure you'll all understand, some things might look a little different this year as we carefully adhere to COVID-19 safety measures but there's perhaps never been a more important time to celebrate the festive season as a community. We can't wait to see you all and and keep a look out for the Facebook posts to keep you updated.

11.01.2022 Did you know that a small group of our members, service fire equipment in our local businesses? Fire extinguishers, fire hoses and fire blankets in a commercial business are required by law to be serviced every 6 months. Bannockburn Fire Brigade has a small group of members who have undergone training to carry out this important work. They travel across Golden Plains Shire and all the profit is returned to the brigade to enable us to buy specialised equipment. The team is l...ed by Colin Watt who is our next member we want you to know. Colin originally joined Upwey Fire Brigade in the Dandenong Ranges in 1967, primarily as an active firefighter. He was Brigade Secretary for a number of years and also had the role of VFBV Delegate. Colin took a break from CFA after a change in location, then re-joined the CFA when he retired. Colin recently transferred to Bannockburn Fire Brigade as a fire fighter and has taken on the role of Fire Equipment Maintenance Officer. Colin joined the CFA because he wanted to make a contribution to the community whilst engaging in a physically active program, learning new skills and making new friends. We asked Colin some questions: What would you say to someone who wanted to join the CFA? There is a great opportunity for anyone who wishes to join our organisation whether its in a position as an active firefighter or someone who would prefer to help in other ways in a non-operational manner, and also for the same reasons I mentioned above. What do you enjoy most about Bannockburn brigade? I enjoy being part of Bannockburn Fire Brigade becoming part of the local community meeting and getting to know fellow brigade members and many people in and around the Golden Plains Shire. What hobbies do you have and what do you do in your spare time? Still settling into Bannockburn and I am near family now. I enjoy walking and we are currently building a new home. I spend time with my Grandchildren and of course spend time with the brigade, including FEM. I hope to soon enjoy a round or two of golf now that I’m retired. What is your favourite animal? My first animal like many people was a cat and still my favourite animal although I love all animals. Our next pet will be a dog or maybe two? What was your favourite subject in school? My favourite subject at school was maths. I liked working with numbers and if you had the correct formula you could always work out the answer.

11.01.2022 To all our volunteers... Thank You

08.01.2022 A huge THANK YOU to all who donated to the CFA. Your donations help our volunteers to continue to serve and protect your community.

08.01.2022 Its Spring now it’s time to prepare your property for the fire danger period Landowners and tenants should be preparing their properties well before the start of the Fire Danger Period. A lot of things can be done in the garden and around the home to improve the chances of surviving the impact of a bushfire or fast moving grassfire. Now is the time to clean up leaves, twigs, bark and long grass around the home and farm properties as fires cannot be lit in the open air durin...g the Fire Danger Period without a written permit from CFA or a Municipal Fire Prevention Officer. During the pre- Fire Danger Period clean up, if you plan to burn those piles of fallen branches, bark and leaves, call the VicFire Burn-off notification line on 1800 668 511 to avoid an unnecessary fire brigade callout. Once the Fire Danger Period has been declared in your municipality by CFA, lighting a fire in the open without a permit can attract a penalty of $17,000 and 12 months imprisonment. There are even greater restrictions for Total Fire Ban days due to the greater risk of fire. To view or download the Can I or Can’t I brochure, go to the CFA website www.cfa.vic.gov.au or call 1800 226 226

07.01.2022 Like all Australian’s today our members were unable to attend the Dawn service this morning, but we all did the next best thing... Members stood in their driveways to commemorate ANZAC day. We had members from the same family lay a wreath at the memorial in Bannockburn on behalf of our members. LEST WE FORGET .

06.01.2022 As we clean up our yards leading up to summer, remember!

05.01.2022 Extinguish your burns There is a severe weather warning for damaging winds across parts of Victoria. CFA urges the community on windy days to extinguish bur...ns and ensure they are extinguished properly windy conditions can cause them to re-ignite. Always check the Bureau of Meteorology website for updates on weather conditions when planning your burn.

02.01.2022 National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to say a very BIG THANK YOU to all volunteers who give their time to helping their communities when we need them most. The 2019/20 fire season brought incredible challenges, which we couldn’t have faced without the critical role of CFA volunteers. CFA volunteers are our friends and family and take on many roles to fulfil our mission of protecting life and property.... Thank you, not only this week but the 365 days of the year you are there for each and every one of us!

01.01.2022 So there has been some confusion there are two virtual tin rattles for Bannockburn and Bannockburn CFA... so we have fixed the links and the one below goes to the Banno CFA tin rattle... so if you still feel the need to donate please use this link to put us in front of Teesdale since they have thrown down a challenge to us... https://fundraising.virtualtinshake.com/bannockburn-cfa

01.01.2022 International Firefighter's Day St Florian's Day (4th of May) recognises the patron Saint of firefighters and so on this day we pause to remember the fallen firefighters who died in the line of duty. This is especially poignant this year after the terrible 2019/20 fire season where fire fighters tragically lost their lives while serving.... Victorian firefighters Bill Slade, Mat Kavanagh and David Moresi, New South Wales firefighters Geoffrey Keaton, Andrew O’Dwyer and Samuel McPaul and North American firefighters Ian McBeth (Montana), Paul Hudson (Arizona) and Rick DeMorgan Jr (Florida) lost their lives protecting our communities. We are forever grateful and thank you for your sacrifice keeping us safe.
