25.01.2022 Queen room with en-suite bathroom in the Lodge
24.01.2022 The Homestays are being advertised for long term rental accommodation over the next 6 months and hopefully at the end of that time we will be able to welcome guests to celebrate weddings and other special occasions if and when Gabbinbar Homestead and other venues open again. The Homestays will be rented fully furnished and rent will include outgoings (gas, elec, wifi). According to the local council there are no plans in place to cancel the Carnival this year but we will wait and see. Stay safe and well everyone.
23.01.2022 We're in for a real treat this year for the Carnival of Flowers. The gardens are looking fabulous as always and to view the whole Botanical Garden you ride on the big wheel or the viewing platform to take some photos. I think the theme this year is 'Dunnies' I took some photos of our cheeky council workers who have been looking after the parks to get them ready for the festival, always with a smile. There will be Opera singing in the park, light show, food and wine festival and fireworks, grand parade through the city on Saturday starting at 3pm...all here in Toowoomba. I took some photos of the park gardens and our hanging baskets and courtyard at Bannockburn Lodge too..
23.01.2022 Thank you to my talented dear friend Marie in Lincoln UK for making these beautiful wedding button holes. Handmade porcelain crafted white roses and Scottish heather, with 'pride of Bannockburn' tartan ribbon. These will be used for our wedding groups and special celebrations at Bannockburn Homestays.
22.01.2022 Beautiful setting overlooking the park and delicious high tea, we've had some and can recommend.
22.01.2022 This place is amazing for functions and we can highly recommend it. We've had many guests staying at Bannockburn Homestays who got married at Scotty's Barn and have great things to say about their special day. It's only a taxi drive away from Toowoomba too.
18.01.2022 These Camphor Laurel trees in Queen's Park were uprooted during a violent storm in Toowoomba on Sunday. The avenue of trees is approximately 350 m long and runs from Margaret Street past the western extension of Arthur Street to the boundary with the Toowoomba Botanic Gardens. The avenue has contemporary association with the community as it is one of Toowoomba's main historical shady walks in the main central park. It is associated with a significant person, Richard Ross Harding, the second curator of Toowoomba’s Botanic Gardens who planted the avenue over 130 years ago. It is quite an obstacle course walking around the park at the moment but the clean up is in progress. On another note, the children's playground is being upgraded and should be ready for the Christmas holidays.
16.01.2022 Checking in to the actual Bannockburn Battle site. It is stunning.

16.01.2022 Cosy lounge in the Cottage
15.01.2022 We're putting up the Christmas tree and lights for our Christmas at Bannockburn this weekend. There will also be some snow blowing around. The Cottage fireplace has been very popular during the month of July, it has been very cold in Toowoomba down to zero temperatures during the night, we've seen a bit of frost too, even the ducks haven't been brave enough to swim in the lake. There was a lovely gesture from Toowoomba residents recently who were tying scarves to trees around Queen's Park with a note to anyone who is homeless or just cold, to take the scarf and stay warm. Doesn't that just warm your heart?

13.01.2022 Rememberance Day at the Mother's Memorial today, I always remember my dad who laid a wreath for his Uncle Arthur who served in the Merchant Navy in WWII - God bless my dad and God bless Uncle Arthur and all those who lost their lives. They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. We will remember them.
12.01.2022 Nearly time for Carnival of Flowers! This year there will be opera in the Botanical Gardens, a fantastic light show in the CBD and as always some great entertainment at the Food and Wine Festival including music from the band "The Church" plus FLOWERS EVERYWHERE!
10.01.2022 Most of our bookings in April and May have now been cancelled due to the cancellation of wedding venues and other events so we will take the opportunity to do some maintenance jobs around the place We have purchased additional mattress covers and pillow protectors so these can be changed after every guest and sanitised. The mattresses are sprayed with Glen 20 before putting on clean covers. Sheets and towels are sent back to the commercial laundry and we only use laundry which has been professionally washed and sanitised. Everything is washed including the bed top covers and doonas. Stay safe and well everyone and thank you for your continued support.
10.01.2022 'They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them'.... Anzac Day parade at the Mother's Memorial opposite Bannockburn Homestays.
09.01.2022 Acting on feedback received from guests over the last 6 months, we now have temporary fences in the yard between the Cottage and the Lodge. This is so the Lodge section is more secure for children and dogs while Lodge guests are sitting outside in the courtyard. This will also help to keep the Cottage area more private for Cottage guests. The fences can be stored away in the garage for our guests who have booked both Homestays and want to use the whole outdoor space. Cottage guests can still park in the yard and Lodge guests still have parking in the driveway off Stirling Street. Thank you to our guests for giving us feedback like this so we can keep improving.
