02.01.2022 For sheep genetic gain in our operation, we are using Bluetooth technology to identify the mothers of our lambs in our 3000-stud operation. We believe the female side of breeding has been very much underestimated and we are endeavouring to identify the best ewes. We place collars on each lamb and ewe that are electronically paired with their respective ear tags. These collars recognise when the pod of a lamb has been in close proximity to a collar attached to a ewe enabling us to determine which ewe and lamb belong to each other.
