23.01.2022 Banyena Bridge Painted by Harry Webb Courtesy of Veronica McGurrin Lowe Granny Margaret O’Shannessy won this painting in a raffle. Granny O’Shannessy was a much admired pioneer in the Banyena district, who managed the farm and her large family after her husband, Robert, died prematurely. The painting remained in the Ballarat house that Granny Margaret O’Shannessy moved into after leaving Banyena for the next 91 years or so and continues to be a much loved family heirloom.

The story goes that our great-grandmother (Margaret) commissioned this painting when she left the Banyena district & moved to Ballarat. She had won a painting of the Banyena bridge that Harry had painted in earlier years, in a raffle.
