23.01.2022 Wilhelmina Kop is a client of BaptistCare at home Central Coast/Hunter who has a zest for life. She is turning a remarkable 103 years old Happy Birthday Wilhelmina! From Ulvenhoot in the Netherlands, Wilhelmina moved to Australia when she was 34 years old. Care Facilitator Lynette Warwick says that she is a quietly-mannered lady, with a zest for life and a sparkle in her eye, who enjoys company and has a pleasant disposition which made the service a joy for our staff. "Wilh...elmina is always dressed beautifully full of colour, flowers, matching shoes - quite swish and arty, like her daughter too. This is a lovely photo of Wilhelmina and her daughter Anneke, and her granddaughter, Laura Kate. Wilhemina sees no point in worrying. Her philosophy is ‘if something is meant to happen it will’, said Lynette. Having recently moved into BaptistCare Bethshan Gardens Centre, Wilhelmina’s daughter Anneke passed on her thanks to BaptistCare at home staff for allowing her mum to stay at home as long as she was able to. Happy 103rd Birthday Wilhelmina, from all your friends at BaptistCare! https://baptistcare.org.au/103-year-old-wilhelmina

22.01.2022 After an extensive amount of planning and preparation, BaptistCare HopeStreet Port Kembla celebrated its official opening today in its new main street location. HopeStreet Port Kembla volunteer, Geoff, spoke at the special reopening event and confirmed there are many new faces and much more convenience in the new location. It’s more accessible here in town. It’s a very nice place. People now know about it, and what services are available here. Some people just come once or twice a week, they feel more relaxed to be here connecting during a time of isolation and disconnect. It gives them a place to come for a meal, or to pick up food that we give away." We love being part of the Port Kembla community!

21.01.2022 On Friday 13 November, BaptistCare Warena celebrated 28 years of caring for residents in their local community. Staff and residents worked together to decorate and set up the dining room and a special menu was provided to mark the happy occasion. Warena resident, Judy, shared that she had only lived two streets away when Warena was being constructed and had attended the opening not knowing she would one day become a resident herself. It means a little bit more to me, said Judy. Congratulations to the staff and residents of BaptistCare Warena for celebrating 28 years.

21.01.2022 Meet Irene. She moved into BaptistCare's new community housing location in south west Sydney last month, and today she joined with us and Minister Gareth Ward and Peter Sidgreaves MP to officially open BaptistCare Narralling Community. This much-needed housing enables seniors and single-parent families to access secure, safe and affordable tenancies. What a Christmas gift for everyone involved, to be able to provide this vibrant community housing, and for Irene and her neighbours to move into brand new homes. 20.01.2022 Newly-minted centenarian Edna Goodwin is proud to be living independently, with the help of BaptistCare at home, as she celebrates turning 100. Born Edna Pilcher in 1920 and the third of seven children, when Edna’s mother passed away at the age of 44, Edna took on caring for her family and younger siblings. She married Alf Goodwin in 1942 after meeting at their church, St Thomas’ Church of England in Enfield, where she has been involved for over 80 years. Edna’s lifelong focu...s has been on supporting, loving and serving her family and friends. She tells us that the BaptistCare staff are very kind and caring, and her one weekly treat is when BaptistCare at home provide support and transport for her to visit the hairdresser, which she thoroughly enjoys. Happy 100th Birthday Edna, we wish you a wonderful time celebrating with your family and loved ones! https://baptistcare.org.au/edna-is-proud-to-be-living-indep

19.01.2022 Enabling people to live their best life at home. To me, living well means being cared for, feeling safe and always knowing you’ve got a friend you can ask for help. And that’s how I look at BaptistCare, as a friend. Watch Regina’s full story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNX-N8u8WVA&feature=youtu.be

18.01.2022 "It makes the difference between living and just existing." Meet Margaret, one of our At Home clients benefiting from our Well-Living approach to care.

18.01.2022 Alf is a legend to us at BaptistCare and so many lives of our residents and staff have been touched by him. For over 40 years, Alf has been a dedicated volunteer and Chaplain through his church and with BaptistCare. He moved into our Willandra Village in 2002 and now lives in Dorothy Henderson Lodge, where he delights residents at Christmas each year when he dresses up as Santa. Alf has lived a life devoted to being of service others, and we’d like to honour and celebrate him... on the occasion of his 105th birthday what a milestone! When we asked Alf what he was looking forward to as he turned 105, he said: Being Santa again at Christmas time. If the Lord wants me to be here a bit longer to serve Him, that will make me happy. Alf, you’re an extraordinary man who has given so much in your 105 years of life. You’re an inspiration to all of us. Happy 105th Birthday from all of your friends at BaptistCare. https://baptistcare.org.au/alf-celebrates-105-years-if-the-

15.01.2022 BaptistCare at home client of Murrumbidgee, Mrs Olga Scott, recently became a centenarian and we wanted to celebrate this remarkable lady turning 100. Born in 1920, Olga has spent her 100 years serving her family and her community, even being awarded the ACT's "Woman of the Year" Award for her charity work in 1998. These days Olga is still involved with many of the same organisations and charities, and the highlight of Olga's week is her weekly coffee date with friends at her... favourite French-Vietnamese local bakery. Olga enjoys playing card games like Euchre and 500, and spending time with her four children, eleven grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren! This remarkable lady had open heart surgery at the age of 85, and the surgeon only gave her a ten year guarantee. As Olga likes to say, she sure showed him! Happy Birthday Olga, we are honoured to serve you and we wish you many happy coffee dates and wins at playing 500! https://baptistcare.org.au/one-time-act-woman-of-the-year-r

09.01.2022 For Paul*, gambling began as a pleasurable activity that he used to escape work-place bullying. I’m someone who always did the right thing. In the workplace, I tend to go above and beyond what I’ve been asked to do and try to assist everyone, said Paul. While experiencing bullying, Paul began to dread going to work and started to feel very anxious and depressed. He occasionally had suicidal thoughts. His mates were worried about him, so they took him out for a drink and a gamble. Paul’s mates went home while he stayed out on the pokies... Read more about Paul's story during GambleAware Week, as we encourage people to recognise when their gambling may place them at risk of harm. https://baptistcare.org.au/checking-in-to-prevent-harm

06.01.2022 Merry Christmas to our BaptistCare family and friends. We know this holiday season is unlike any other, to cap off a year unlike any other. Throughout this season, and as we move into a new (and hopefully better) year, we wish you moments of peace, connections with family and friends even if they can’t be in person. We wish you a season that’s joyful, merry and bright with the light of God’s love.

05.01.2022 You know you've done something right when tenants like Irene are overcome with their new home. But this isn't about us, it's about the right of every person in Australia to have a safe and affordable place to call home. We appreciate our partnership with the NSW Government’s Social and Affordable Housing Fund and we strongly encourage the NSW Government to continue to invest and draw on the resources and capabilities of the Community Housing sector to deliver more integrated housing projects such as our latest BaptistCare Narralling Community in Elderslie, so more people like Irene have a house they can call home!

04.01.2022 Since the outbreak of COVID-19, emerging data and reports from those on the front lines have shown that all types of violence against women and girls, particularly domestic violence, has intensified. This is the Shadow Pandemic growing amidst the COVID-19 crisis and we need a global collective effort to stop it. Yet we believe domestic and family violence was a national crisis long before 2020. Today, on International Day for The Elimination of Violence against Women, BaptistCare voices our ongoing commitment to the women and children who live in fear, terror, and violence. We stand by you, and help is available now, from BaptistCare and via 1800RESPECT (737 732). If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, please know support is available now.
