07.01.2022 Dr. Samia Shah’s tribute to Baqar Jaffar Photography on 4th August 2020 (my Birthday). The original image was captured back in 2012 at Sharja Beach (UAE), Samia recreated the image with watercolors and minutely covered the details of the original image. Well done Samia for the great effort, keep it up.

07.01.2022 Same Place, Same Tree, just the different weather

06.01.2022 Up above Lake McDonald, near the Fish Creek Campground, among the skeletal remains of a devastating forest fire back in 2003, my students and myself were all lo...oking up at an impressive display of the Milky Way on this late night of a moonless sky, looking up with our super-wides, 14mm to 16mm, shooting 15 or 20 sec. exposures at F/2.8 or F/4 with ISO’s if 3200 or 5000 (see image # 2) and as the evening progressed, I was struck with the idea to create a ‘meteor’ shower, shooting stars raining down from the sky! It was during the LAST FIVE SECONDS of my 20 sec. exposure that I carefully zoomed my Nikkor lens from 14mm towards the 24mm focal length, being mindful to be fluid, to be as smooth as possible as I zoomed the lens during those final five seconds of the 20 second exposure and it was on my forth attempt that I recorded a ‘meteor shower’ that I was happy with! It was a fun night for all of us to say the least! And we’re going to do it again in SE Oregon Aug 19th-23rd during the next new moon phase. Stay tuned! See more
