13.01.2022 This week we returned Hive 1 to our bee mentor. A huge thank you to Hendo for this opportunity, help and guidance in our first 6 months of beekeeping. We have earned our bee stripes. Research and more research. We were able to split the hive and the girls gave us a new queen. Hive 2 is going strong and we have been able to extract honey for the first time (8 frames), giving us approximately 20kg of beautiful delicious honey. So much sticky fun and we loved every minute... of it. Even the clean up We borrowed the equipment to do this, so a big thank you to John from @papajohnsrawhoney at Annerley. I think it’s time we invested in our own extracting equipment. #bardonbees #brisbanebeekeeping #newtobeekeeping #apiarylife #firstharvest #honeyforsale #beelife

06.01.2022 We have our first harvest for 2020! We split hive (1) early this year and were successful as the hive (2) is going really well. We have honey comb slabs to enjoy. We’ve placed a new full size super on hive (1) and a half super on hive (2), let’s see what the girls can do over the next few weeks.
