25.01.2022 Here's a selection of pictures of a gutter replacement done recently on Chas's coupe. The main gutter section is welded in position before the roof panel goes back on. The A pillar gutter section will be finalised, after the roof panel goes back on. Both gutter sections were made in house, here at Bare Metal Resto's.

24.01.2022 I've had this XA, XB, XC Falcon coupe quarter window trim piece, sitting on my toolbox for a while now. So for a bit of a personal challenge, I decided to have a crack at reproducing it. While at first glance it may appear to be a fairly simple piece, it's actually quite intricate.

23.01.2022 This is it for Barry's XB coupe. Those who have been following the page over the years, will know it well. This thing has had just about every panel removed, repaired or remade. Many of the replacement panels I have available today, originate from this job. I'd like to thank Barry for the opportunity and for trusting me with his pride and joy.

22.01.2022 This is a recent repiar to Scott's VH Pacer. Scott was lucky enough to source a N.O.S quarter panel and front and rear door skins. The end result is a very neat, clean and straight forward repair.

21.01.2022 With the beaut weather over the weekend, it's finally time to get Bare Metal out of the shed and blow out the winter cob webs. For those who don't know, Bare Metal (a 1972 VH Valiant) was a project of mine when I first started Bare Metal Resto's. The idea was to find a rusty rig, repair any rust and accident damage, file finish it and clear coat the finished product to showcase my work. When I picked her up she had been treated to quite a bit of mechanical work, but needed a lot of love in the body department. This is the end result of around eight months of cutting, shaping, welding, hammering and filing. While she's not 100% perfect and she still bares a few scars from previous "repairs" what you see is what you get. No rust, no bog, no bullshit.

20.01.2022 This is Graham's LJ Torana. He brought it to us for some structural repairs, to help rebuild the foundations for his restoration project. The first area to sort is the sills.

20.01.2022 Here's a selection of progress pictures of Clayton's XB coupe. Since my last post of Clayton's coupe (August 2018) many hours have been spent repairing and epoxy priming each individual part prior to reassembly.

17.01.2022 This is Todd's VH Charger. It's been a while since I've had the opportunity to get stuck into a Charger, so I'm really looking forward to it. The first area to be taken care of is the left sill. As complete reproduction inner or outer sills aren't readily available, we've made our own. The inner sills have been upgraded from 1.2mm to 1.6mm thick and the outer sills upgraded from 1mm to 1.2mm.

16.01.2022 Here's a few small repairs to the rear of Ado's HJ wagon. One of the straightest, most original cars I've had the opportunity to work on in a while. A few holes and some damage from a roof mounted spoiler was repaired, before the wagon was sent for media blasting. Once back from the blaster and with a few extra holes, the rust issues over the rear window were sorted.

15.01.2022 These are the wheel arch repairs on Merv's coupe. While they are some of the most solid coupe quarters I've come across, the arches still had their issues. With the arches off, the inner wheel wells were also repaired. The wheel arch sections used in these repairs were made in house, here at Bare Metal Resto's.

13.01.2022 This is a tailgate repair I did on the HG van we have in at the moment. The panel was disassembled before being media blasted, repaired and then reassembled. The original outer skin required fairly substantial repairs, so it was decided it would be more economical to remake a new one. As the repair progressed, the owners thought it would be a nice touch to remove the outer T handle and hide the external locking mechanisms. The tailgate is now opened by an electrical solenoid, that actuates the locking mechanisms. The locking rods, mechanisms and solenoid are now hidden inside the tailgate.

12.01.2022 Here's a selection of XA-XC Falcon panels and repair sections I've made for various jobs and special customer orders. If you're interested in prices, please PM.

09.01.2022 This is the sub frame for an HG panel van. While from the outside appearance it seemed to be a pretty solid unit, once we started tearing it down, we found it still required quite a bit of work. New reproduction panels and sections are available and were ordered, but upon delivery were found to be of poor quality and unusable. All repairs to the sub frame have been done and everything has been sent of to the media blaster, in preparation for the final assembly. All replacement panels and sections used in this repair, are made in house here at Bare Metal Resto's.

09.01.2022 Here's one for the Holden fans! Lee's HG Monaro has come to us for some much needed attention in the body department. First task is to tear it down, ready for a date with the media blaster.

08.01.2022 Time for the hanging panels on Barry's coupe. The boot lid, bonnet and doors have been completely disassembled, ready for media blasting and repairs.

07.01.2022 With both sill panels replaced and Clayton's coupe sitting on it's new frame table, it's time to prepare the body for media blasting. At this stage, the more of the structure that is accessible to the blaster, the more thorough a job can be achieved.

06.01.2022 Here's a selection of reproduction parts that I recently made for an eastern states customers XA coupe. While some are parts that I typically keep in stock, many have been made by request.

04.01.2022 This is a custom dash fascia I made a while back to suit an HZ Holden. With the original plastic piece showing it's age, the customer wanted a clean and solid fascia for his new selection of aftermarket gauges.

03.01.2022 This is the plenum repair on Chas's XB coupe. Previous repairs had seen the firewall flange cut off and seam welded. All the usual rusted areas were repaired and the firewall to plenum flange was remade as per original.

02.01.2022 These are the hanging panels for Barry's XB coupe. I did a post in August 2018 of the disassembly and preparation of these parts for media blasting. Once back from the blaster, it was onto the usual rust repairs and a few custom modifications. Anyone familiar with the XA-XB-XC Falcons knows, the areas around the bonnet and boot hinge mounts, can have issues with bending, fatigue and cracking. To prevent this from happening, we made custom oversized hinge plates, to help spread the load over a larger surface area.

02.01.2022 This is a sill and torque box replacement on Chas's XB coupe. The outer torque box and brace sections are made in house, here at Bare Metal Resto's.
