25.01.2022 Never realised how beautiful it was to ride on the trails early in the morning before. Thinking this might become a more common thing coming into summer Cav & Chrissy

24.01.2022 11 horses worked before 10.30.. fair effort I’d say! We even had time for Ava to have a play with some horsies. Now time to relax until this afternoon when we have 2 new arrivals coming to be brought back into work and a group of pony club kids coming out to brush up on their theory to sit their C certificates this weekend.

23.01.2022 Baby Molly has done lots of long reining this past week. Up until now she has freaked out about absolutely anything touching her bum, so was nearly impossible to do this without scaring her or putting her in danger of hurting herself. I’ve been on her a few times now and didn’t ask of any tight turns or circles with her as I knew she really had no idea what i was asking. Now that she’s had a few rides under her belt, we thought we’d try her with the long reins again and she took it like a champ! In the short year that I’ve been doing this I have learnt so much more than I could have ever thought. Sometimes things have to be done in an unconventional order to get the outcome you’re wanting, no two horses are the same!

22.01.2022 First lot ready to go at 6.30am this morning

21.01.2022 Beautiful Susie

21.01.2022 Dusty’s owner and I have agreed to basically start him from the ground up again due to him being scared of his own shadow, literally! Lol!

20.01.2022 A huge thanks to Maddi from ML Equine Massage And Photonic Therapy for designing our new logo. It’s absolutely beautiful. Shoot her a message if you’re looking for a logo for your business

19.01.2022 We didn’t start working horses until 5pm last night, due to the heat! It was fantastic, I got to go to uni and do whatever else I needed to get done during the day and then came out to the horses, these hours might be the new norm over summer!

19.01.2022 BASIC HORSE HANDLING LESSONS Now that the weather is getting better, the days are getting longer and the Covid-19 is easing, we are jumping at the chance to start up slowly with some casual lessons again! These classes are for all ages, it’s never too late to begin your life with horses or even jump back into it after many years off! ... I’ve also had lots of parents enquire about something like this, as we all know kids don’t like to listen to their parents (guilty ) when they’re learning the basics! Things you will learn in this class include: * How to safely catch a horse from the paddock or box * How to lead a horse correctly * How to tie a horse correctly and safely * How to groom a horse * How to rug & unrug a horse * How to saddle up * How to lunge * How to bathe a horse * How to load & unload a horse on a float * How to clean gear * How to tell if your gear is fitting correctly * How to tell when your gear needs to be replaced * Theory such as, parts of the horse (skeletal, muscular, digestive ect), parts of the hoof, basic wound care, horse vital signs And so much more!! These classes will be available on a Thursday & Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings. Group or private bookings available. Please note, we are not offering *riding* lessons at the moment. 18.01.2022 This gorgeous girl is Star, 7-8yo Stock Horse mare, Star arrived last week to be restarted under saddle. She was supposedly broken to saddle some years ago but hasn’t done much at all since. Her owners and I have discussed and figured it would just be easiest for everyone, especially Star if we start from scratch and show her the basics again. So far she has had some tie up lessons as she wasn’t very good with this, had a lunge, and restarted her mouthing process with side reins and this afternoon she had a long rein. She’s picking everything up really well as we assumed she would, this girl is a STUNNER

17.01.2022 When your shoes are too big, so you just get rid of them and ride barefoot

15.01.2022 Blue is definitely a character, that’s for sure! He’s going well for having over 12 months off

14.01.2022 Rocky got a haircut today as he’s just not losing his winter floof and is struggling with the heat already. We can’t decide wether to leave his ugg boots on or take them off though?? They’re super cute!! We probably got more hair off of him than we did with all three TB’s we clipped over the last few weeks! Thor will have his haircut tomorrow

13.01.2022 Massive day at Bareback to Basics Equestrian today, we had an early start to beat the heat and now all horses are tucked into bed and having an early dinner to top it off Now time to enjoy the sun with a well deserved, ice cold drink

12.01.2022 Hi everyone!! Sorry we’ve been a bit slack with the updates lately, coming to the end of the year we are extremely busy and I have been swamped with school work so that I’m able to finish my course this year! Nevertheless, we are still working horses, here are some updates from the past few weeks (small caption on each photo) ... I hope everyone is enjoying the sun

11.01.2022 Ted working out with a couple of Roos this morning

10.01.2022 Lot number 2 ready to rock and roll

10.01.2022 Molly’s first time in the Pessoa System. We actually brought it out to do a bit of desensitising rather than what it’s actually used for. Molly is very sensitive, especially with things around her bum. We started off with a polo wrap connected to each side of the roller and she didn’t react to that so we tried the Pessoa on her. As you can see, everything is VERY loose on her and it’s really having no effect over her other than being a great tool to help desensitise her to ...having things hang off of her. She was a bit jumpy to start with but once she got used to it, she wasn’t too bothered. We are really enjoying working with this little filly

10.01.2022 A massive congratulations to these little legends from SPC who sat/rode their C certificates today! We have had a couple of theory sessions to scratch up on their knowledge the last couple of weeks and they all managed to pass their tests today! Congrats again girls! Xx
