24.01.2022 Just when you thought your fresh herbs couldnt get any better.... listen below....... Alistairs Lockyer Valley Cooking School.

23.01.2022 Well its probably not the most positive post but nevertheless, this is an area I irrigated yesterday. I couldn't believe the cracks were still open this morning . The plants are doing the best they can to survive in these conditions. If you look closely you can see their roots across the cracks. So very thankful we still have a little water to work with, albeit a little too salty.

23.01.2022 The Farm is selling a 12 seater bus, anyone interested?

16.01.2022 Hi there folks! We here at Bare Essentials are giving a big shout out to all the small green grocers in SEQ and beyond, who will be starting to feel the bite of the measures our government has put in place to curb the spread of Corona virus. We are doing everything in our ability on farm to ensure the safety of your food, and the continuity of supply. Small businesses like ours are really going to struggle through this crisis. I respectfully ask everyone, that you spread some of your fresh food budget to your local green grocer. These specialist outlets are a critical component to the rich tapestry of fresh food we all enjoy access to. Keep well and may we all see a speedy end to the safety measures we must support for the time being.

16.01.2022 The answer is yes..... it does taste as good as it looks!! Thanks @tonytierney and the team at @oceanviewestates_eatdrink for making our fresh herbs come alive!!

16.01.2022 Last Friday I paid my respects to Fred Zivec, the founder of Zivec Produce. We here at Bare Essentials pass on our condolences to the entire Zivec family. It truly is a changing of the guard. Fred's ability to produce high quality vegetables week-in week-out and his focus on supply chain integrity inspired me as a young man. I found him to be a warm, caring and passionate man with a razor sharp tongue to those situations that had questionable integrity. His occasional quiet ...word gave me the solace that I needed to carry on in the difficult times that we so often experience in farming. I have always looked up to Fred as a leader in our industry. He didn't have the biggest operation but the consistency and standard of product was unsurpassed in my opinion. It's a great loss to all food lover's in SEQ. Thankyou for your strength and influence Fred, I for one will miss you. Salute! Brendan Dipple See more

11.01.2022 Producing food on farm uses a lot of power - irrigation pumps, packing shed equipment, coldrooms, offices. Finally our new 35kw solar system has been installed, purpose built to reduce power consumption from the grid....... going 'green' in more ways that one!

06.01.2022 Something Brendan contributed to recently

06.01.2022 Hi Everyone! Well it's been a while since we've bothered to post anything. With the weather the way it's been there hasn't been much to crow about . Last year was a really tough year on the farm! Conditions were very challenging as we all know. Whilst I don't feel the drought has reached the terrible lows of the millennial drought, I don't think I've experienced a drier spell than we've seen in the last 12 months to Christmas. Some really difficult days to grow crops in and w...e all saw the results. Product quality was hard to achieve, if not impossible some weeks, and complaints were hard to avoid. I think we took more complaints last year on product quality than all other years combined. On many occasions we were left scratching our heads as we'd never seen plants curl up in a ball like they did in 2019. Thankfully we've had a little respite now and hopefully the rain that we've had is the start of a more forgiving weather pattern. I thought I'd post some images I captured during some of the difficult days as well as a couple of photos of current crop. I'll leave you to work out which photos are the current photos, all I can say is, it's amazing the difference a little rain makes. We are just getting into our seasonal plantings of coriander and spinach, along with a few other lines that should be available from late April, all being well. Whilst the drought hasn't left us yet, I'm hopeful for a better year with quality. Keep well, eat healthy! Brendan See more

06.01.2022 Thanks to our harvest and packing team - Saturday morning feast!

03.01.2022 Chefs getting down and dirty on farm harvesting produce for the Locker Valley dinner this weekend at @oceanviewestates_eatdrink. Can you get any more committed to fresh quality food? Thanks @tonytierney and team. Can't wait for Saturday!

03.01.2022 Add a little bit of wind, a little bit of heat and a bit of bicarbonate in the irrigation water and you get the end of the coriander season. A lot of work for that result
