25.01.2022 I received this email this morning and wanted to share it with you. Emails like this reaffirm to me why I teach prenatal yoga and childbirth eduction. Knowledge is power. Knowledge is the key to coping with fear and enabling you to feel empowered on this journey through pregnancy and motherhood. The credit, however, always lies with the women that attend my classes and choose to absorb the information available to them. The women that choose to educate and empower themselves...Continue reading

22.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to you all! Youre doing a great job You deserve to be celebrated

22.01.2022 The days following the birth of your baby are a time to rest, recover, bond with your baby and as a family. Visitors during this time can be very disruptive to this important period. Consider delaying the announcement of your babys birth, setting limits on the number of visitors and/or how long they stay. A great thing to do when you let everyone know your baby has arrived, is to add to the message "...We are taking time to recover after the birth and bond as a family. We will let you know when we are ready for visitors." Then you can invite the people you want to see, when you are ready to see them

21.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all the beautiful mums out there! I truely believe that motherhood starts at conception. Thats when we first begin to love and nurture that little person growing in our belly. Our love and dedication grows each day from that moment and never stops. Being a mum also makes you see and appreciate your own mum in ways you never understood before.... I hope you all had a great day connecting with your baby and your own mum, and revelling in the gift that it is to bring new lift into the world

18.01.2022 If you are getting close to your due date there are natural forms of induction that you can try. There is no scientific research to support that these work, however, there is no harm in trying them either: - Walking: Go for a long walk along an uneven surface like the beach. This utilises movement and gravity to wiggle and jiggle your baby deeper down into the pelvis. This can either get your baby lower and/or bring on labour due to the added pressure from the babys head on ...the cervix. Bouncing on a fit ball can help in a similar way. - Acupuncture: In Chinese medicine there are points in the body that correspond with the uterus and may be able to assist with bringing on labour. The acupuncture needs to be done by a practitioner trained specifically in acupuncture for induction. - Sex with Male Orgasm: Semen is a natural source of prostaglandins, which are used in synthetic form to encourage cervical ripening in preparation for labour. Sex plus or minus orgasm has been found to increase uterine activity, and nipple stimulation is also thought to stimulate the uterus to induce labour. - Bowel Stimulation: Eating spicy food or anything that gets your bowels moving, like prunes, can potentially help. - Relaxation: Anything that helps you stay calm and relaxed is a good thing e.g. warm bath. Tension and stress can prevent the body going into labour because of the hormones you release when you are tense/stressed. You can try all of these methods and they may help. You can find more information here (and many other places on the internet) https://www.healthline.com//p/natural-ways-to-induce-labor

14.01.2022 If you are interested in Acupuncture to encourage the natural onset of labour, I can recommend Lisa Johnson, at Fremantle Acupuncture. (I rarely recommend anyone, unless I know that person and have experience with their services.) She starts seeing women from 38 weeks and can start induction treatment from that date. You can call Lisa on 0400 061 761 to discuss treatment options, or you can visit the Fremantle Acupunture website for more information on her services.... http://fremantleacupuncture.com/ Fremantle Acupuncture NatMed 89 George St, East Fremantle 9339 1999

11.01.2022 I really do love learning about childbirth and as a professional in the field of childbirth education, its interesting to observe the trends in what is recommended to women. Ive been saying for years "birth the head slowly", "gravity and movement are your two best friends in labour" but now I may have to add "push less, relax more" :) http://thenaturalparentmagazine.com/dont-push-new-programm/
