11.01.2022 Rangers out in Gariwerd BGLC Ranger crew Adrian Morgan and Lachie Marks have been out in Gariwerd undertaking Photo point Monitoring in the Summerday Valley. BGLC have been assisting Parks Victoria staff as part of a program for which the purpose of this monitoring is to build up a time lapse photo series to view the regrowth of vegetation and to check for any visitor impacts on cultural sites. The thought is that if the vegetation is returning, visitors are respecting the temporary protection zones that have been set up around the cultural values. This will help inform PV and BGLC of the next steps in protecting the sites on a longer term.

04.01.2022 Barrabool Cultural Site Protection Works Our On Country Ranger crew have undertaken some important and significant cultural site protection works last week. Adrian and Lachie spent the day using their skills and experience to repair the broken fence and rehabilitate the vehicle tracks to prevent access and further damage or harm to the Cultural site at Barrabool Flora Fauna Reserve. Parks Victoria have supported these works in Barrabool which will only strengthen our working partnership for the future management of this unique place. This work has highlighted the role and responsibilities Traditional Owners play in managing Country, and adds to the proud feeling of knowing we are doing the right thing to protect and preserve our Country and Culture for our peoples.
