25.01.2022 I've just spent a wonderful social morning with Baraga lions club at the beach. Need more of those social gatherings. Thank you for the invite.
25.01.2022 Something to remember as we finish a year like no other.... Happy New Year to all our Lions family THE TRAIN: At birth we boarded the train and met our parents..., and we believe they will always travel by our side. As time goes by, other people will board the train; and they will be significant i.e. our siblings, friends, children, strangers and even the love of your life. However, at some station our parents will step down from the train, leaving us on this journey alone. Others will step down over time and leave a permanent vacuum. Some, however, will go so unnoticed that we don't realize they vacated their seats. This train ride will be full of joy, sorrow, fantasy, expectations, hellos, goodbyes, and farewells. Success consists of having a good relationship with all passengers requiring that we give the best of ourselves. The mystery to everyone is: We do not know at which station we ourselves will step down. So, we must live in the best way, love, forgive, and offer the best of who we are. It is important to do this because when the time comes for us to step down and leave our seat empty we should leave behind beautiful memories for those who will continue to travel on the train of life. I wish you a joyful journey for the coming years on your train of life. Reap success, give lots of love and be happy. More importantly, thank God for the journey!

16.01.2022 This week year 11 students Alana, Allyra & Lakaya competed in the Lions Youth of the Year Public Speaking Quest. All three girls performed confidently, with Al...lyra & Lakaya going through to the Zone Final. A special milestone was recognised last night, as it was 40 years ago that teacher Mrs Deb Johnson won the competition for Kepnock & 13 years since Deb’s daughter, Claire won. Kepnock is very proud to have participated in Lions Youth of the Year for such a long duration. We wish Allyra & Lakaya every success in the next round. See more

13.01.2022 Gotta warn you, this could get lengthy!! Please make yourself a cuppa and settle in! ;) Our Lions Club and a troop of volunteers & friends gave fantastic essen...tial service to our local community today! In my years of service as Club President, I'm not sure I've ever walked taller or been more proud of both our Club and our town!! I'll give a little background ... we are a remote Outback NT town of approx 3,500 people. Last Sunday night our ONLY supermarket was destroyed in a fire and is closed till further notice. News travels fast... on Tuesday morning I received calls from Past DG (District Governor) Dave and our new DG Norm, both in S.A. offering our club the assistance to support our community. They understood our remoteness in that the next supermarket is 500km away in Alice Springs, and very compassionately understood what a challenge this crisis would present to our town! Between them, they achieved grants of $10,000 funding from Australian Lions Disaster Relief and an extra $3,000 of emergency funding from Lions Clubs International Foundation in America!! We swiftly put a plan into action to offer healthy, nutritious food into the hands of our most vulnerable citizens and today distributed 1,000, yes one thousand, meals of Spaghetti Bolognese with lots of extra vegetables, in the form of 250 meal packs, each to feed four adults! And that's just stage one! We've peeked under every rock to find anyone with compromised health, or the aged, or disabled, or big families, or no car to get to the evolving pop-up interim supermarket at the very northern edge of town, etc, etc. This is a cross-community project, if you need food, you qualify! Many in Tennant will have a hot, healthy supper tonight, that may not have been possible by any other means! Lions Norm and Dave, I wish you could've seen the delighted faces on our recipients and heard the kids shout out "Thank You" as we drove off to the next house! One of my last deliveries, an aged pensioner of tiny proportions, humbly asked me "Can I please hug you Kate??" This town is in crisis and we really feel that we made a difference! Over the next 2 weeks, we have budgeted for 1,000 packs (4,000 meals) in total, to feed our town with the support and generosity of Barkly Butchers locally, and veg/grocery suppliers in Alice. Our dear mates Chris Penhall and Brian Sweeney gave up their day yesterday to drive 1,000km round trip with a trailer to pick up ONE TONNE of veg and groceries! Thank you fellas!! xx Thanks also to Penny Cowin who coordinated the ordering and Lions Treasurer Merrin who ensured the meals were as nutritious as possible. Our church leaders helped to identify those in need. Pastor Mike even ran deliveries, along with Eddie & Josephine from PNG! We are an eclectic, diverse community out here, along with 2/3 of our population being Indigenous. A local service organisation, BRADAAG, supplied a mini-bus and two staff to deliver meal packs to residents of the Community Living Areas, and Marnie Sutton stayed on with me till 6pm, running the final packs around town in the bus! Many kind locals stepped up to assemble the packs, and also to deliver them! We are very grateful to the CWA for the use of their hall, and the RSL for their cool room! You've never seen such a town with a golden heart as Tennant Creek in a crisis!! My most sincere thanks to both the Australian and International Lions Foundations for their support to feed people, and to our DG leadership team for having such faith in us to deliver such vital support! Our team is incredibly proud of our efforts... where else could you pull together a delicious pasta meal in under $4 per serve these days, especially given our location and already compromised, stressed supply lines due to the Covid-19 pandemic!! Further meals will be distributed tomorrow, and once veg/grocery supplies are replenished, we'll do it all again next weekend! Beyond then, we hope the town will have a pop-up grocery store operational again! Lions Members, rest well tonight, particularly Merrin who has been sooo instrumental in pulling this together!! I have never been more proud to say: TENNANT CREEK LIONS CLUB, WE SERVE! Kate Foran President, Tennant Creek Lions Club

05.01.2022 This National Volunteers Week, Lions Australia celebrates its superhero volunteers who go above and beyond to help their communities every day. Our members know... the true meaning of giving back, and recent events like the bush fires and the COVID-19 health crisis show us just how much can be achieved by volunteering your time to a service organisation like Lions. 02.01.2022 LIONS PUTS ITS STAMP ON A GREAT PROJECT The Lions Stamp Club recently handed over a cheque for a record $53,000 to the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foun...dation, just for this past year. This brings the total for the past 2 years to $101,000. It is amazing that a tiny stamp weighing nothing can be sold with thousands of others to raise so much money. Great Work Lions. Please pass your used Stamps to your local Lions Club and support Children in need. #ALCMF #district201c1 #weserve
